Newcastle United are reportedly interested in Norwich City’s Russell Martin and Andrew Surman.
The Evening Chronicle in Newcastle has reported that United are one of a number of teams who have run the rule over the pair in the last few months.
Midfielder Surman has scored four goals in 17 appearances and Martin, playing at both right-back and in central defence, has netted twice in 26 games for the Canaries this season.
Both players would have caught the eye of Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew during Norwich’s 4-2 win over the Magpies back in December - Surman’s corner leading to Norwich City’s first goal.
Norwich City defender George Francomb has agreed a new deal to stay at Carrow Road.

That Viz magazine reference evoked more eldritch images of PoW Road. First posting ethered. The Viz characters I referred to were the "Cuddly Ladies"!

As "Sid the Sexist" said in Viz Magazine, "Ye cannae call it anything else, it's been St James' Park for 2,000 years. He is the Patron Saint of the Geordies, he drove the Maccams out of Newcastle."

I just can't imagine Surman at the "sports direct arena" infront of the soon to be Tesco and Asda stands.

Ba is great but he needs service. If we get Ba,if only to be fair,we would have to get Moo in to supply the crosses-my spies in the Peoples Republic of China rate him very highly.I suggest PL scours Quickfit and every paper recycling factory to see if there is an Oink anywhere on a par with Holt and Morison as forward cover and partner for Ba.

You must be the Oldest Swinger in Town, Timbo! On the rare occasions I have found myself on PoW Road, usually making my way from Thorpe Station, it reminds me of that gruesome scene from Catch 22 where lots of horrible things are occurring, including an old man beating a dead horse. Or a newscast from a particularly bad night in Beirut. These days I have my private helicopter collect me from TS and deliver me to the safety and tranquility of The Heartsease.

Ba? Humbug ! PS: POW Road. Absolutely rocking @ nite. And I'm from Manchester + the wrong side of 50. Well impressed. Wished I was 25 again. Also there's a Chinese (or was it a Thai) place offering all you could eat for a fixed price, £20 I think. They didn't make any profit the nite the Manchester boys visited I can tell you !

Good old EDP! Just like The Sun, print a load of rumour and gossip to flog a few extra copies! Doubt if Newcastle would be any attraction to either of them, no chance of Lamberts boss selling anyhow!

We don`t want any Sissies. And imagine all the sheep jokes poor Ba would have to endure in Naaarfolk. Swansea a better bet for him. jmm`s prices look good but I`d rather those players stayed with us. This is bottom level press speculation (EDP) designed to flog a few more comics. Crab has it right. Anyway, there are much better Nightclubs in PoW Road than there are in Newcastle. Natural drainage, too, for the midnight blood! OTBC.

I've heard that Cisse and Ba are targets for City. Does that make it quits? And we're after Messi, Ronaldo and Rooney. If we're going to rely on media reports about other media reports, we'll all go mad!

That being the case could we please concentrate on the matter in hand - playing and winning football matches - and leave the transfer speculation to the siummer when there is little else to talk about!
