City midfielder Jacob Butterfield has extended his loan spell at Championship promotion hopefuls Crystal Palace until March 17.

To send a link to this page to a friend, you must be logged in.

The 22-year-old has made five appearances for the Eagles after a previous short-term stint at Bolton earlier in the campaign. Butterfield endured an injury-hit start to his Norwich career after arriving from Barnsley last summer with a knee probem.

The former England U21 international has so far made three senior outings for the Canaries, the latest in an FA Cup third round win at Peterborough.

Butterfield is one of six Norwich players currently out on loan in the Football League. Tom Adeyemi recently extended his spell at League One club Brentford until the end of the season. Declan Rudd is also at divisional rivals Preston for a similar duration. James Vaughan moved to Championship club Huddersfield on a season-long loan, with Dani Ayala agreeing the same season-long switch to Nottingham Forest. Elliott Ward is also at the City Ground now after moving to the East Midlands for the rest of the current season with a view to a permanent move.

  • "Fewer games" not "less games" SO. Hi, Kelvedonanary, my opinion of our Assistant Manager (the one who swans about in the Directors` Box while CH & PT patrol the technical area) is, like mjc`s, partly based on his "previous" with Holty. "Uneasy truce" was an expression used. His management CV looks ordinary, but my opinion is also formed by conversations I have had with a mature, intelligent, life-long Forest supporter who witnessed the happenings in Nottingham during the Bewilderwood Years. When top scorer and fans` favourite Grant Holt became a `winger` (!) and the goals dried up. Familiar? Then he flogged the Horse to Shrewsbury for not a lot. Gunny`s and Norwich`s good fortune, as we reined him in for a massive (reported) £400k - about 2-3x what Calderdash dumped him for. Other than that, no issue, really. Just an opinion\`gut feeling`, which may well be wrong. Apropos of nothing; "Flown the nest Watch". E. Ward, J. Vaughan & H. Lansbury all scored last night. Also "missed opportunities" C. Wood and G. Murray. I suspect G. Murray (28 goals for Crystal Palace) is lined up for a Laaandon Prem club at end of season. WHU? They`ll be free of Andy Carroll by then.

I would have hated to be a teacher in your school - to learn you have to listen, and show a little respect for your elders and betters. If you don't, you turn out to be a bad-tempered, ill-informed, bitchy individual that nobody wants to listen to. Debate with respect for one anothers' views is one thing - schoolgirl bitchiness in an argument is quite another.

Seems to be the favourite buzzword for all teams atm not just ours. Scousers are all going on about Rodgers not having a "Plan B". Never any suggestion what Plan B should be, never any consideration to the opposition we faced, never any resolution offered, just the ramblings of a person that clearly does not have a clue what is going on. It’s like when Brewer screams he’s been moderated when it’s abundantly clear it’s merely the fact he doesn’t know how to use a computer that his post hasn’t gone through.

Given the physical pressures of the premier league it would have been foolhardy to place him straight in the first team. After a full pre-season we will have a good idea of where he is in our system and could well be the central player we are looking for to fully unlock a 2 striker tactical formulae.

  • Because you turned up a hundred years ago does not mean you know anything about the team and club today, in fact, quite the opposite. football has changed and frankly you don't like it do you. Change, is a fickle mistress. You guys realise that you can make THREE substitutions now! Crazy! isn't it?

  • Now that's better, SO. Get off the vitriolic attacks, and ask a sensible question - even though it is in a begrudging way.To answer you, in case you really are interested, I watched my very first Norwich City match away at Crystal Palace towards the end of the 1966-67 season, at which time I lived in South West London. I moved to Norwich in the summer of 1968, and have been a firm supporter (a REAL supporter) ever since. I could count on the fingers of one hand the number of home matches I have missed in the last 45 years, and for the first half of that period I would drive to every away match up to 200 miles away - about half the away matches most seasons. I followed City to every match, home and away, in our European adventure of 1993, and went to all 3 of our League Cup Finals at Wembley. How does that compare with your support SO?

I is however early days for them allso fingers crossed. Plan B is BS. Sorry that is the philosophy of Haig, Kitchener an his cronies in their managementof World War 1. They then needed help from the USA to win it. Hang on, help from the US? I think you've got it Steady old chap.

Special K on the other hand looks promising , he has a hunger and desire to play and to prove himself in England , that can only be a good thing for us .

  • Hi, oldtimer. I too posted japes about playing 11 goalies, flat back four, the Hendacahedron etc. One GK should be allowed to handle outside the penalty area (ála Robert Green for QPR) etc etc. Like you just a bit of gently ironic humour.I agree with you on Culverhouse. I don`t know how hard the club tried to keep him, or how realistic a chance we had of doing so. He seems to relish the "No. 2" role so should have had no prob with Hoots. It seems management teams come as a "package deal" these days. So we HAD to have Hoots`s lieutenants if we wanted Hoots, likewise for Villa\Lambert et al. Culverhouse is an energetic and intelligent coach - saw a clip of him seemingly bossing Lambo about recently! My first real memories of Naaaridge are ref the 1959 Cup Run. Cartoons in the Pink `Un of a coat-tailed Canary socking a Sheffield Utd."Blade" character.

You know I think we would benefit from having a genuine former goal getter , an out and out striker on the touch line cajoling , encouraging and demanding more from our forward line . The aim of our beautiful game is to put the ball in the oppositions net , something we're lacking at present .
