Chris Hughton’s men enter the re-branded League Cup competition, along with the rest of the Premier League clubs not in early European action, with the second round tie to be played on Tuesday, August 28 (7.45pm kick-off).

City were humbled 4-0 by League One visitors MK Dons at the same stage of last season’s cup competition.

Hughton told the club’s official website: “First and foremost it’s great for us to get a home tie in the Cup, I think that’s the most important thing.

“If you need any reference as to what sort of opposition we will be up against you just have to look at their thrilling game against Derby County in the first round on Tuesday. They showed resilience and persistence to come back from behind and eventually win the tie on penalties and I’m sure they’ll come here in the same spirit.

“Credit to Scunthorpe for their performance and will to win and we will look forward to welcoming them here to Carrow Road.

“I’m delighted to get a home tie and it gives the fans the opportunity to watch their team in the Cup.”

  • I was at that 6 - 0 match. Could watch those highlights all day. :D Makes me want Pacheco back even more! Would swap a cup run for PL survival any day. Another couple of years establishing in the Premier and we can set our sights on bettering the 93\94 UEFA run. :D

  • Don`t want to play 1p5wich BVP. They`d probably be a bit physical and we already have plenty of injuries.

  • I think progress is being made, a Renaissance! I would like to open a discussion on how Arsenal and Arsene Wenger will cope post-RVP.

  • Just when many of us were beginning to believe Scunthorpe was a forbidden word. Sanity must be returning.

  • Just got back....from Stade de Suisse at Wankdorf, where the Bern team Young Boys play. Ruddy was immense in the second half, pulled off three world class saves and the second goal came directly from a break after two point-blank saves he made. He has stepped up a gear. Once Defoe replaced Andy Pandy, England started to look dangerous. Butland was OK but did rather create the chance for the Italy goal. He got his confidence back quickly though. Well played JR, OTBC.
