Norwich City have sealed their seventh signing of a productive summer transfer window with a deal for Belgian international Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe.

To send a link to this page to a friend, you must be logged in.

The 25-year-old has signed a three year deal, with another year’s option, after completing his move from Club Brugge for an undisclosed fee, although reports in Belgium claim the Canaries have paid £4m for the midfielder.

Odjidja-Ofoe travelled to England earlier this week to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms and City boss Neil Adams confirmed the Canaries were in advanced talks with the player when he spoke to the media at Colney on Thursday.

Odjidja-Ofoe was one of his prime targets to replace QPR-bound Leroy Fer and joins Scottish teenager Conor McGrandles, who also moved to Carrow Road earlier this week. The duo will not be available for this weekend’s Championship home game against Bournemouth with City officials awaiting international clearance, but Adams is pleased to have secured a long time target.

“He’s a player we’ve tracked all summer with a view to signing, particularly if we lost one or two of our players in the transfer window,” Adams told the club’s official site. “I’m absolutely delighted we’ve signed him. He’s a versatile and very attack-minded midfielder who can play in a number of positions.”

Odjidja-Ofoe made 30 appearances for Brugge in the Belgian Pro League last season and scored three goals. The midfielder also has five caps for Belgium and used his personal twitter account to announce the news on Friday afternoon.

He tweeted: “I am happy to join Norwich City FC. Looking forward to get busy with the team. Thanks to everybody from Norwich FC for the great welcome. Hereby I also want to thank Club Bruges for the last five seasons. I wish them all the best for the future.”

  • Not blanking you, MichiCan; Archie keeps blocking me. Perhaps motorbikes are offensive in some way? My reply to EgyptiCan sort of covers it ;-)

  • Indeed MichiCan. I sold my most recent ones only about 4 years ago. Lost interest a bit. I loved the "real" Bullet. It was originally sold to the Northumberland Police by Robson`s of Bishop Auckland, and it was fitted with a magneto, rather than the current (!) design of coil ignition. The cops didn`t want to be worrying about flat batteries! I bought it semi restored & finished it off at great cost. Labour of love. The bike that would be worth most now is the DMW Dolomite. There is actually an owners` club just for that model. Very rare. If only... wisdom of hindsight. Sold it for 30 quid about 45 years ago.

  • Timbo often misused when the word alleviate is meant. So you can see how you quite rightly used in the context of the Canaries as opposed to say relieving of a pain in the posterior Just scored as i write.

  • EgyptiCan, I think at that time all FBs came in that "pine" green colour. All the equivalent James models came in maroon. I thought a Lambretta would`ve been dearer than an old FB! I`ve had a few more bikes; a 1959 DMW Dolomite Sports, powered by a 250cc Villiers 2T twin engine. Rare as poppekak now. Then a dreadful 1964 500cc Triumph Speed Twin. Quite a gap, then a return to 2 wheels with a 1958 AJS Model 14 250cc, built from (and for) a `basket case`. More recently, I`ve had an Indian-built 350cc Royal Enfield Bullet from new (2005 - an excellent retro-bike, alas now banned by World Emission Regulations. crazy), and a 1960 English-built 350cc Bullet. The old one was a more modern design than the new Indian one! To complete my stable, I had a 1956 224cc Villiers-powered James Colonel (maroon, of course!), beautifully restored by its previous owner, and a 1967 175cc BSA Bantam. I`ve sold them all now; the three genuinely old ones to the Motorcycle Museum in North Walsham. They`ll be looked after there!

  • To non-posh MichiCan. A Bonneville while still a schoolboy?! To me, that IS posh! I had a 150cc Francis-Barnett which cost about £15, then a 250cc Royal Enfield which cost a bit more than that. Both paid for by making sandwiches for the toffs at Norwich Rugby Club, Fifer`s Lane. Oh, and cleaning those foul communal mud baths, so beloved of `macho` Rugger players. Still, par for the course, I suppose.

I just couldn`t bring myself to say it (my reputation to consider, you know - "moaner, grouser, etc). Now you`ve smoked me out; I`m a `Nouveau Happy Clapper`. Parvenu for the course ;-)

He'll be able to get infusions of Moesselsoep in the Belgian Monk in Pottergate ( I cant eat them , ever since a bad one or several got into my Vischsoep in Het Seinpost in Scheveningen ive been sensitised and barf like a good'un ) . Which leaves us Haringbrotjes to find for his packed lunches ( variants of herring in a breadroll ) I suppose we could try him with a bloater stuck in a bit of Hovis and see how that goes ? I hope to Goodness this Netherlander can play football , our last one couldn't .
