Paul Lambert admitted his Norwich players are still hurting from the midweek Premier League defeat at Sunderland and determined to hit back against Bolton on Saturday at Carrow Road.

The City chief insisted a 3-0 reverse at the Stadium of Light was totally out of character for his squad this campaign - but Lambert believes the motivation will come from within ahead of the Trotters’ visit.

“I’ve never once had a problem tying to lift them again. I think they are hurt, everybody is hurting because we just never turned up on that night,” he said. “We never gave them a game - which is so unlike us. We’re sitting mid-table and no-one would have given us an earthly of being in that position. I thought Wednesday night we just never got going. I don’t have to do a major overhaul or anything like that. I have no worries about the lads going again. They know themselves they let everybody down and ourselves down. It was a game we thought we could go up there and win but to be fair to Sunderland they were much better than us on that night. We pick ourselves up and go again.

“Honestly, I’m not going to let one defeat weigh me down. I never have done. We hadn’t been beat until Tottenham back in December. Listen, its gone. There is no point in worrying about it. I don’t lose sleep over it. Yeah, you mull over it when the game is finished and you are back down the road but its like a win, I let it go as quick as anything and the lads will come out as strong as anything tomorrow. We’re at home and we’ll give it a go.”

Lambert confirmed there are no fresh injury concerns from the trip to the north-east but left-back Marc Tierney will again miss out after suffering a reaction to his recent groin injury.

  • Yes MB, I had some correspondence with one of the GrossKontrolleren a long time ago after a particularly irriitating series of etherings. It seems Archant have a machine which checks words in scripts before they are posted. Football teams like S****horpe, and ****nal are not allowed immediately until a human check has been performed. One of mine at that time was ethered because I was commenting on how rude a certain football official had been, and I used the word "dis*****eous". (hope you can work it out). It was rejected because you are not allowed to refer to anything in the jud1c1al system! Did you notice that all the articles that came up in the recent debates about John Terry, Rio Ferdinand etc did not contain any allowance to comment? The reason for that was the subject matter! We can't be trusted to make sensible comments on that subject! I wonder if this will bw allowed through?

  • Lambert to Leeds? I can't believe how many deluded people fall for such nonsense. If he's going to leave, and of course he will at some point, then it's going to be to a big Premiership club with Champions League football. Leeds??? Don't make me laugh....

  • lambert wont be here for ever ,2 more years max, he is going right to the top,and norwich cant get him there ,fact... most worrying thing for me is why does lambert still live just outside scotland, straight after a weekend match he gets taken to stansted and gets a flight home, then as ncfc players have mondays off,he flys back in late tuesday, culverhouse takes tuesday sessions, after 2 years why has he not bought a place in norwich and settled,we are only a stepping stone for him,and we are lucky to have him for how ever long he stays

  • Leeds were a big club, 'were' being the key word there. I'm sure they will get into the premier league again but I don't think they'd be considered a big club now. As for Paul Lambert, lets just enjoy this success and worry about him leaving when the time comes =)

" What's the point of moving and flopping, might as well push himself here as far as he can.

  • One thing for certain, Lizsnott, PL won`t be going to 1p5wich. That Ryan Bennett was on the books there as a youth. I bet he`s glad not to be there any more. Look, we NCFC people do not haunt, stalk or otherwise troll your sad little website, so why not reciprocate? Schadenfreude is only for those who take pleasure from others` misery. Why keep on inviting us to do that? Love to Ged. Make sure he cleans his tooth before you tuck him up in his padded cot. OTBC.

  • Jmm, you're probably right to say that Johnson and Howson might not have signed for us if Leeds were in the premiership, but the facts are that they're not in the premiership so that's an entirely redunant statement. I don't think Lambert will go for a good few years yet unless a major club come calling - he's building something here and I can see him walking until he's taken us as far he thinks is possible, or there is some disagreement with the board (which is unlikely it would seem).

  • There will always be rumours about PL leaving. And of course all City fans will no-doubt be concerned when rumours circulate for as long as he continues to do the brilliant job he is doing. Nonetheless it is better that City fans have these anxieties as opposed to being in a reverse situation i.e. wishing that our manager would leave. OTBC!!

  • Why this constant negativity and harping on about Lambert leaving. Admittedly this isn't helped by Rob Butler going on and on about it on Canary Call. Do Stoke fans constantly speculate about Tony Pulis leaving? He got them into Premier League, established them and got them into Europe. Do Swansea fans fear Brendan Rogers will be poached. We are very fortunate to have Paul Lambert but he is not the only good young manager. Most really big clubs would want an established international manager. So I think we can stop fretting. The days of a Norwich manager being poached after a couple of good seasons are behind us.

The last time I saw a face as disinterested as some of those that represented City at Sunderland was when I had a shave this morning! Of course there is always the question of the pay packet.

They got a bit complacent after holding Chelsea and doubling up the away wins at WBA. Listening to what the payers are saying, I think that they are pumped. OTBC.
