Chris Hughton admitted Norwich’s first half display was as good as it gets in the thrilling 4-3 Premier League away win at Swansea.
The Canaries made it nine unbeaten in the top flight but they were made to fight for their first success on the road this campaign in a pulsating contest at the Liberty Stadium.
Steven Whittaker’s first goal for the club gave them the lead in the 16th minute before Sebastien Bassong scored for the third time in four games, heading in Grant Holt’s cross. The skipper then ended his recent drought when he headed home Snodgrass’ free-kick in the final minute of the opening period. Swansea hit back when Michu and Jonathan de Guzman scored within 15 minutes of the restart, but Robert Snodgrass made it 4-2 from a free-kick after Swansea skipper Ashley Williams had pulled down Holt. The Canaries looked to have weathered the storm until Michu scored his second of the match in stoppage time to make it 13 for the season.
“It is a tremendous result and what I am really delighted about is that it is a win away from home against a club in really excellent form and at a tough place,” said Hughton. “They showed second half why they had started the season so well but of course it is very much a game of two halves. That first half could not have gone any better for us. We didn’t make things easy for ourselves, albeit we could have been 4-0 up when Bradley (Johnson) hits the bar. We conceded too early and that was always going to give them a lift. Probably the thing that I was delighted about the most was when it went to 3-2 the majority of those here will have expected it to go 3-3 and perhaps Swansea to get a winner. I think we had a period where we had to really dig deep and the fourth goal was pivotal for us.
“It is a wonderful marker for them. We continually say every game is a tough one for us but that first half was really excellent. It doesn’t get any better but that is tough to sustain for 90 minutes. The character we showed with 30 minutes to go - it was 31 minutes to go actually - even though it seemed like longer.”
Hughton admitted City’s nine-match unbeaten run is a source of immense pride.
“I’m proud of the players for this run because they put in a tough shift every game,” he said. “Fortunately for us we showed enough resilience to see it through. They deserve every credit going. They knew the points hadn’t come for us earlier in the season but it was about creating something within the group to get us on a run.”
Norwich City officials confirmed on Monday night the release of ten players from the club – headlined by the departure of Canadian international Simeon Jackson.

PS. irongloves, I agree that was a dodgy performance from Bunn but he has looked fine in his other appearances. Hopefully that was just "a bad day at the office" and he`s got it out of his system? Also agree that Brad Friedel would be a mighty force for good if Hoots did want to take him on loan. Bunn suddenly seemed scared to come off his line & control the 6-yard area, something that Ruddy has got better and better at. Jury still out on Bunn - I hope fans don`t get on his back. :-(. OTBC.

The Arch-anters certainly give you plenty of proof reading to do, MBA. Perhaps you`d be better negotiating a small basic retainer fee, with further payments on a piece-work basis. That`s a no-lose situation; there`s scant hope the scribblers are capable of significant improvement. You might even be hired to replace a couple of them? ;-) OTBC.

Another great team performance but Bunn worries me and more important seems to be worrying our centre backs. Can Hoots with the Spurs connection bring in Brad Friedel on loan?

We've had Ged Steroo, Billy the bookie now we have another version crept out from under his stone! Baldy Mammoth,. good name! Are these three one idiot or not? Obviously they are either Prancing Donkey fans from Portaloo Road, could even be Colchester fans, remember them? Obviously followers of a rubbish team and feeling somewhat envious.

Liverpool just won ,and general comments are that there was no need to panic and they are just four points off a champions league spot, they just need to buy a striker and anything could happen. Well HELLO so are we!!!

Factoids. Versus `Top Half` Teams we have 15 points from 8 games..... Versus `Bottom Half` Teams we have 7 points from 8 games. Just as well we don`t have to play ourselves - we couldn`t win! ;-)

They should pay you a retainer, MBA. ;-) I see we have a new troll trunking in; a large, extinct, follicularly challenged elephant. In quadruplicate. Factoid; our "Springboard Wizard", Holty, was directly involved in 3 of our goals. No wonder the Druids hate him. OTBC.

I was at the Malaga - Granada match yesterday so wasn't aware of the Norwich score at the time. What a game and what a result! Hughton is doing an excellent job and is proving his doubters wrong. A friend of mine who is a Birmingham fan said when he joined us that we'd got the right man. Result aside, what was so heartening was to see us being so positive and scoring some goals. Our pass and movement was excellent and we thoroughly deserved the three points. Looking forward to seeing some games again when I get back for the spring (if I can get a ticket! Even as a super member that isn't always easy!).

Oi, bald_mammoth, grow some hair and come back when you support a club that is actually decent. Oh, I forgot, you have no common sense so you probably won't.

I see Grant Holt is being lined up for the Olympic diving team for 2016, By then he will have mastered the art, opps silly me he already has! How many more times will he reach back then spin around and fall over when he feels the defender within arms reach.

In the coffeeshop (eating place in Chinatown) where I watch the match here they show two games, always Norwich when they are playing which goes without say, last night the main match was Sunderland Chelsea. At the start I was the lone Man In Black watching the game by about 10 minutes into the second half of the game I would say about 90% of the football fans around me were watching Norwich game! Now most of them have Norwich as their second team - just need to get them having Norwich as their first team! OTBC

Out hear the main paper for sport had predicted a low scoring 1 - 1! It will interesting to see the reports today, though to be fair to the paper we do not get the BBCSKY anti small club attitude from them and they give credit. I agree and I have said it before CH needs to be given the support of the board and given an extended contract. Last season we were one of only 2 or 3 clubs to win at Swansea, can we play all our away games there. OTBC

I am very impressed and pleasantly surprised. Time for the senior management to seriously consider offering CH a long term contract, just like what Newcastle did for Alan Pardew.
