Neil Adams believes Norwich City’s St George’s Park training camp this week can help sow the seeds for a Championship promotion tilt.

Adams’ squad have travelled to the FA’s national football centre, near Burton, for a five-day trip which the Canaries’ boss feels offers a vital building block in his preparations for the league opener at Wolves on August 10.

“I think its important you get them away very early on. With the new signings coming in you want that opportunity for them to bond,” he said. “At Colney even if we do double sessions they are around each other for a couple of hours at a time, maybe some lunch and then they are gone. At St George’s it will be 24/7 for the duration we are there.

“Quality and talent are great attributes but team spirit is just as important for me; that chance to get the whole group together. From my own experience if they like each other and establish that bond then you can bring that out onto the pitch where it matters. Every successful team I have ever played in has been a happy team. You don’t have to be the best of friends and of course there will always be the odd argument between them but when it comes to the nitty gritty you want lads who are willing to fight for each other and have that close understanding. That is a massive bonus.”

  • He-he Lincs. What more of a bonus could there be than all those smilling faces at Carrow Road?

  • I wish I was as clever as you, LYB. It looks like Archie has excised SO. Perhaps another ban? You can be sure my monicker is descriptive of what is in the tin. The problem with mundane folk is that they are scared by intelligence, so call it madness. I just like to be one step ahead. Not difficult. BTW - Welcome back, Barking Wise. Some wit returns!! ;-) Ta for that addition to my Lexicon, Oz Can! Gary`s recruitment may be a hint that Delia`s finally laying down her ladle? G`day.

  • Word of advice Neil. If you conclude too many interviews with the words "massive bonus" Mr McNally wont like you.

  • And there's nothing like a good pillow fight in the "dorm" before lights out to reinforce the bonding process.

  • I bet Holts giving them a good old army "Beasting". A term for a very hard physical work out whereby your all vomiting your guts up. It really sorts the men out from the boys and shows peoples true sides. If you mess up expect to get a "Beasting" at 5am. Hopefully he'll do that as a deterrent if they put in poor performances. If that doesn't get them bonding as a team nothing will. MB, another term for you "Slop Jockey" , person in the Army Catering Corp. Which I believe Holt was?

  • Mad Brewer, how do we know your moniker doesn't in fact do exactly what it says on the tin and one of your other personalites is hijacking your account without your knowledge? ;)

  • The last two "contributions" were not sent by me. The culprit will, hopefully, earn himself another ban by Archant.

  • Nice one Neil, gives the management team a chance to weigh up the different options with not much time before the first game.

  • .....Great attitude Neil...togetherness is priority when building a TEAM....Glad to see that those horrible girlie blue outfits have been ditched!...Just need to get the players wearing green or yellow boots instead of those orange embarrassments.....

  • Ho-ho, NMTD! ;-) On another board, I commented that Gary is beginning to morph into Gollie the Ghillie from `Monarch of the Glen`. In this photo, he`s more akin to The Grim Reaper. I bet he won`t put up with any slackers in training!
