  • Am I missing something? Am I the only one not to feel inspired by this appointment? I sincerely hope I am wrong, but if he is as good as people say he is, why did Newcastle get rid of him? He has performed well in the Championship, but has managed for only 23 games in the Premier League, with 2 clubs, losing 11 of them. I hope McN has got it right, though, and that CH will not only kep us in the Prem, but finish above Villa!!

  • While you`re out in Addis Ababa, Dubia(!), swot up on the spelling of "Hughton". I`m popping down the street now to grab me a salt-pork sandwich with loadsabutter on unlevantined bread. An All ready-meal, already. It`s a cross-cultural snack, much favoured by Barbra Streisand and the Mafia: Matzo Soprano. Only 7 shekels & 50 agora. Daylight Rabbiry.

  • I have been a supporter since 1949 and have never known our board to act so fast. good on ya Mr.McN,now let Holt go ,sure the tribunal will put a good figure on his head as 2nd highest scoring English player, no one player or manager is worth more than the club. The initials P L now stand for PREMIER LEAGUE only.. THATS WHAT WE ARE OTBC forever.

  • As I said richard1, I sincerely hope I am wrong, I just don't feel inspired by the appointment. But that said, I am struggling to come up with an alternative, and CH is probably the best option out there at the moment, so I will get behind him. McN does seem to be a very shrewed operator, and the media view CH as a very good man.

  • Poshcanary, on these boards I have been accused of being bookworm in disguise! How can that be? I saw the press conference live and thought that Mr. Hughton handled it elegantly, as did Mr. McNally. He( McN) is a cerebral gentleman, much maligned by the Stereotypists. Subtle references to regret, but a gimlet-eyed determination to continue the Project. Chris Hughton is the perfect choice. On a shortlist of ONE. I needn`t have worried about Steve Bruce at all! OTBC.
