Neil Adams is warning the doubters to write Norwich City off at your peril in the battle for Premier League survival.
The Canaries’ weekend trip to relegation rivals Fulham has assumed epic proportions with Adams’ squad five points clear of the Cottagers ahead of a daunting run-in against some of the big hitters.
Adams is more than happy for the critics to write off his side’s chances if they fail to avoid a seventh straight away league defeat in 2014 at Craven Cottage.
“If people want to write us off then great. People wrote us off during the FA Youth Cup run long before we got to play Chelsea in the final. That is fine. I don’t have a problem with that,” he said. “Norwich City is never going to be a team up there with the top four in terms of who are going to be seen as favourites at this level. We are probably used to that. We are down towards the bottom end of the table with perhaps seven or eight clubs who are all in the same situation and have no doubt been written off on a weekly basis like us.
“How you use that as motivation is up to individuals. I keep hearing that Fulham is a must-win or a one-game season. It is a five game season and we are capable of beating anyone. We have four fantastic teams to play but let us not disrespect Fulham. They will give us everything and we know what we are up against.”
Adams has been delighted with the initial response from City’s squad since replacing Chris Hughton.
“I am getting to know them better now and what we need is people who want it and who will give everything they have got for Norwich and those type of players will be at the forefront of my thinking when it comes to selection,” he said. “I have had chats with a lot of the players individually and it is all about forward-thinking. They have shown a fantastic attitude. The intensity has been right at the levels we expect and we have done three tactical sessions predominantly about how we are going to go about Saturday’s game.”
