Norwich City supporters’ groups have been reacting to the appointment of Neil Adams as permanent manager.

Ben East, 39, from Manchester, is a member of Northern Canaries and has supported Norwich City since he was a child.

“Neil Adams experience with the FA Youth Club and the last few games he was in charge of shows he is a progressive manager who will play in a modern and exciting way, which will enthuse the fans.

“He has the best interest of Norwich City at heart and he understands the club.

“There will be an element of the supporters who will be worried it was the easy option but, I think in time, having someone who understands what needs to happen to get back to the kind of football and position the club were in – he knows that.

“The decision has been made and we need to get behind him and support him.”

Jamie Hart, 34, from Scotland, is the chairman of Scottish Canaries.

He said: “I have mixed emotions. After waiting two weeks for a big announcement it was a bit of a downer. But we need to back him and we’ve got to be there and be strong.

“If he gets the passion back into the club, that’s what we’ve needed for two years. If he gets the fans back on board that’s a good thing.

“I don’t know how he will be welcomed but if he brings the passion back that is all that matters. He should do okay hopefully.”

Robin Sainty, press officer for Norwich City Supporters Trust, said: “I think I feel ambivalent to be honest. We are probably all a little bit surprised – we expected it would be Malky Mackay.

“Neil Adams is a Norwich City person through and through and I think that counts for a lot. My concerns are his lack of experience but we’ve been in this situation before - Mike Walker worked out fairly well.

“It’s easy to write him off but I think he is passionate and has a good football background. Hopefully he can bring passion back to the football club.

“Many fans will be underwhelmed by the choice but we have to back him.”

  • if history repeats it self we will be good as the last last ex player who won the FA youth cup for us took us to 4th place in the premier league and 2 FA cup semis, not bad for a person with no experience.

  • Congratulations City on our new manager, now lets put all the backbiting and negative vibes to bed.It is in the past we are CITY and we know what we want.Just remember in 1988 and ex city player just got his under 18 `s to win the FA cup and he duly took over the reigns with little or no experience and he did us proud,so get off Neills back and support him in the re birth of our great club. For those who cant remember the manager in 88 it was dave stringer our beloved number four net to big Duncan .OTBC lets get cracking and get back to the promised land as quick as possible

  • Tactically inept my @rse, he gave Brendan Rogers and Mourinho more of a run for their money than Hughton ever did

  • I have always liked Neil Adams as a player and as a pundit, but not as someone who can manage NCFC. He was described in some quarters during his 5 game stint in charge as "tactically inept" and I have to agree with that. If, we do not get off to a winning start in the Championship, both the board and NA will be in for a really rough time from the fans who will feel once again they have all been let down by poor decision making by the people in charge at Carrow road.

  • I'm quite positive about NA appointment, my worry is that obviously he was not the first one on the list of wanted, I would say he was third choice, but never the less Roll On Good Times

  • Consider that the players were demoralized and the structure had to change. Now allow him to pick his own players and have a full pre season to work on a structure that at least attempts to attack rather than be defensive at every attempt and then we will see what he can do.

  • another good playerclub man like Bryan Gunn, stepped up to the management helm, and was soon sent down the road, hope history does'nt repeat itself, got nothing against either of them, but you need an experienced hand

  • We have to give NA a chance? We already gave him a chance. He failed to take it. We gave him 5 games to get the 5 points we needed to keep us up. He got 1.

  • We're all in this together, supporters, players, board and manager. That's traditionally been the Norwich way and long may it continue!! I can't be as pessimistic as many of the posts I have read as this is sport and anything can happen and it would all seem hopeless without......HOPE. I think this will ultimately prove a good appointment so all the best to NA and his team.
