The national newspapers’ views on Norwich City’s 4-0 defeat at Manchester United.
Sunday Mirror: “The Japan international proved he is much more than an Old Trafford marketing gimmick with a glorious hat-trick in a pivotal period in United’s season.”
The Mail on Sunday: “United hardly broke sweat re-establishing their 15-point cushion at the top of the Premier League. Challengers Manchester City don’t play until Monday night.”
The Observer: “This was the “mundane” match Sir Alex Ferguson wanted put away professionally before Tuesday evening’s encounter with Real Madrid.”
The Sunday Telegraph: “United are still looking after business at home. It took a while to come together but when it did Norwich were swept away by a red tide masterminded by Rooney.”
The Independent: “If they (Norwich) had survived until half-time, perhaps they could have turned a screw themselves, in terms of frustrating the hosts.”
Norwich defender Sebastien Bassong is predicting good times ahead with the Canaries in the Premier League, after finally breaking his own personal spiral of career lows.

Well, at least the Independent was not completely dismissive of little ol` Naaridge, independent-spirited as the paper is. Totally wrong though! Only Chris Goreham in his Sunday-best Yellow & Green specs, or Divot at his most servile, would see, or profess to see, Norwich turning any sort of screw.
