The Foxes have slipped to 12th in the Championship table after winning one of their last four matches so Grant Tomlyn, chairman of the Leicester City Independent Supporters Association, says their fans are just as excited about the match.

He said: “We’re out of the league now so we are concentrating on the cup. After Tuesday (losing 3-2 at Watford) we are nine points off the play-offs and we are not going to make that up.

“We tend to do better against better teams but I think it will depend on which teams are played. Norwich are playing quite well, if they had been in the bottom three then the team they put out against us probably would have been very different.

“If we had been playing a team who were struggling like Bolton, I think we would have had a lot better chance, but it is the cup and everyone is excited about the game.”

There has however been some controversy amongst Leicester fans going into the match.

Under FA rules, Leicester should have received 15pc of seats for the match, which would have given them around 4,000 tickets.

Instead, their allocation is just 2,400 seats, well below 10pc of the ground capacity of just over 27,000, due to a decision made by Norfolk County Council’s Safety Advisory Group, taken on police advice.

Mr Tomlyn added: “How we are considered “high-risk” I have no idea. We took 8,000 to Nottingham Forest in the third round, which is like Norwich v Ipswich, and there wasn’t any trouble at all.

“So there has been a bit of criticism about that from our fans and it’s been hard to get tickets.

“I had put a £75 deposit down on a mini-bus for the match, not thinking tickets would be a problem, and would have lost that if I hadn’t been able to get a ticket.”

  • Never any trouble from us either, strange decision, probably been a better atmosphere with a bigger away crowd.

  • Nice encouragement to your own players there, we're 9 points off the play-offs so we have no chance.
