Fifteen years ago today the heaviest away victory in Premier League history was secured by Manchester United, winning 8-1 at Nottingham Forest, but will that record still be standing on Saturday evening?

The Manchester City wrecking ball was slowed by a 1-0 home defeat to title rivals Chelsea on Monday and next up for the big spenders is a trip to Carrow Road on Saturday. Will the defeat see the 2011-12 champions take out their frustrations on the Canaries? Or can Chris Hughton’s side rally and pull off a potentially season-changing triumph?

Hughton splashed the cash last summer to bring in strikers Ricky van Wolfswinkel and Gary Hooper but Norwich have scored just 29 goals in 29 games in all competitions.

That is opposed to Manuel Pellegrini’s title challengers, who have scored a huge 114 goals in their 38 games.

There is some hope for the Canaries because the Citizens’ Argentine top scorer Sergio Aguero, who has scored 26 goals in 25 games, will be missing with a calf injury.

However he will be replaced by Alvaro Negredo (23 goals in 34 games) and Edin Dzeko (17 in 30) – and that’s without even considering powerhouse midfielder Yaya Toure (15 in 32).

Hughton has already admitted his side’s 7-0 loss to City at the Etihad in November was his “lowest point” of the season.

If his side cannot find a way to repel City’s irresistible attacking force, then Saturday could be another day to forget.

  • Who is this clown Freezer? He's obviously been sent in to stir things up on the message boards with ridiculous articles like this! They'll be handing out 'Archant' embossed "Hughton Out" placards outside the ground next!

  • We have two hopes fpr Saturday Bob Hope and no hope!!!!! lets just get the game out of the way, emergency Board meeting Sunday morning with an announcement straight after. Neil Adams installed as caretaker for West Ham on Tuesday, Then see who fits the bill for or keep Adams for the rest of the season. Like I say forget Saturday and write it off as the final nail in the coffin of Hughtons disastrous regime. There is no more time to lose we are doomed without a change.

  • The last three games I have predicted a NC win of 3-0, my logic being that one day I'll be right. I'll give this one a miss then.

  • The words might, pigs and fly come to mind! As for taking on Man City, getting in their faces, pressing them high up the pitch, we can forget that. Hughton has probably spent the week working on how fast he can get the players to back-pedal.

  • The answer to the question is probably not. Our best hope is to catch them on a waterlogged pitch and hope some of their glove wearing superstars don't fancy it. In reality we're probably looking at a big defeat. Dare I say it this is a game Holt would have enjoyed. Like others before I find it hard to see the point of this article. I look forward to the bear and woods article later in the week, Even allowing for the trainee reporter I have to say with their access to NCFC staff the articles from the Pinkun are generally poor. Every week there is a player wheeled out for the 'we'll show them' article usually after a defeat. After another defeat we get the same stuff as Radio Norfolk. Most of what appears on here is recycled from the message boards. When was the last time the Pinkun had a real exclusive or a different angle? I read it every day but it's getting stale and outdated much like the current manager.

  • This question is about as hopeful as asking whether the Pope will sack all his paedophile priests or Cameron sack all his incompetent ministers the answer is obviously no unless Hughton and his spineless players suddenly morph into completely inspired set of super heroes who have collectively decided they want to be Canary legends

  • Sharky, We are proud to be playing against Man City this weekend, the problem is that under the clown Hughton and his jokers we are unlikely to be playing them again any time soon!!!!!!! We do support our team to the end and always will but I simply cant agree hat is surely too late to change now. A proper HE WHO DARES WINS mentality could see us win enough points to survive, but that simply wont happen without change. Ask forest , leeds boro and you know who from the next county about getting stuck in the championship, Forget about parachute payments we have got to win the battle of the mini league and stay up this season. The alternative is unthinkable . BOOT THE HOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOW

  • There are people here who are able to put their views in a more mature way. Namely M333 and Brew, We are all hurting at the moment. Probably not as much as the manager and players after the Cardiff game. What we see of the manager in front of the media is not the same man as in the dressing room, I can tell you. I did vote for change in the so called vote here. The problem is Archant always seem to be trying to stir things. I,m from a era of standing on railway sleepers at Carrow Road. I,ve seen it all including re-election to the league. This weekend we will witness our team play against what is one of the best teams in the world. Be proud of that fact. I really hope we dont get beaten by a mile. We are in serious trouble but enjoy the game. You might not witness a game like this weekend for much longer. Also just like to say the surely its to late to change now. Support your team to the end. OTBC

  • Obviously we all hope we can stop Man C and cause a surprise. Watching Chelsea Monday, they really attacked the Man C defense, and made then look all over the place. Looking at the number of goals they have conceded does support attacking them hard, although I am not sure our current management and coaching staff know how to even attempt this. I would really like to see us try, as opposed to a defensive line-up and tactics.
