Grant Holt is staying at Carrow Road after agreeing a new deal with Norwich City.

To send a link to this page to a friend, you must be logged in.

The Canaries skipper has signed a new three-year contract, just weeks after handing in a transfer request.

Holt, 31, put pen to paper earlier this afternoon on a new deal committing his future to the club until 2015.

Holt said: “I’m really pleased we’ve agreed things and that I’ve got a three-year deal which gives me and my family a bit of security.

“I do appreciate where the club was coming from in terms of the process we’ve gone through to get to this point. Now I’m just really keen to concentrate on getting back to work with the rest of the lads and concentrating on having a good pre-season and getting ready for the start of another season in the Premier League.”

Norwich City boss Chris Hughton said: “I said when I first arrived that talking to Grant was a priority as what he has achieved for Norwich and what he brings to the squad is there for all to see.

“It’s great news that he has signed a new contract and I’m really looking forward to getting down to work with Grant and the rest of the players when we return to training next week.”

  • YES! We effin love Grant Holt! So glad it could be resolved. Didn't think McNally needed to be quite so hard-nosed this time!

  • Terrific news! Rumour has it that all America will celebrate tomorrow both GH's staying and the arrival of the Olympic Torch in the fine city.

  • I just got a Web Comment Moderation Report for an innoxious comment in May, reason "other". Could that be some sort of record?

  • Just didnt see the need for the poster to even mention Aston Villa? We're a team on the rise too with the ability to bring in quality European players, expect more from Paul Lambert soon. Looking forward to the new season. Oh and Doc, whatsup??!!

  • This has got to be the best news!! And confirmation of Butterfield's signing as well. Just a fantastic day. Well done to Hughton for convincing Grant to remain at the club. Now next season can't come fast enough!!! OTBC

  • Hoi, munkai - a gawl is a gawl however it's scored loike. I hope mate ur doesn't accept you silly caveats ! Lets check the stock value....... Grant Holt cost £400K - 17 Goals in 2011-12 - Darren Bent £24M - 10 Goals in 2011-12 who has the better return on investment ? Holt has out-done Bent before and will do it again this season !

  • Wanted, one careful driver for football player (currently without licence). Tee-totaler preferred - that counts Brewer out for starters. Probably also counts most of us overseas Canaries out too ! Happy days are here again - OTBC

  • News worth shooting off fireworks for tomorrow. I sure am glad I picked the Canaries last year to learn about real futbol. Thank goodness for the Fox Soccer Chanels and ESPN. Now that we have this issue resolved maybe we could get the temperature to fall below thirty five degrees Celsius for a change.

  • So it seems we have today captured the brains behind the brawn. I told you a few days ago we would, was a matter of time. Who's a bigger loss, lambert or culverhouse? For me I'm excited as you guys rave about him.

  • Yesterday I got the bad news that our new home, we were supposed to move into 1st June, won't be ready until at least mid August. Then I heard this and it cheered me up no end :-)
