Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov will undergo a fitness test to determine if he can play for Fulham against Norwich City tomorrow.

Berbatov missed the 1-0 home defeat by former club Manchester United last week with a hamstring problem.

“I think and hope that he will be in the squad,” said manager Martin Jol, for whom Mahamadou Diarra (knee) and Kerim Frei (pelvis) are confirmed absentees.

“If not, Urby (Emanuelson) will probably start. In an ideal world, I don’t think he will start.”

Emanuelson was one of three deadline day arrivals after signing on loan from AC Milan.

Stanislav Manolev and Eyong Enoh are unavailable as they wait for their work permits, but Steve Sidwell (knee) and Kieran Richardson (calf) are available again, bringing much-needed Premier League experience.

“That is the most important thing for a club like ourselves, to have Premier League experience because if you don’t you could end up with a problem,” Jol added.

Key defender Brede Hangeland shrugged off an Achilles ache, which forced him off at half-time against United and required a scan, to travel with Norway in midweek, but Bryan Ruiz is still to return to London from international duty with Costa Rica.

“We had 12 players away on international duty and that is awful. Norwich had two or three so we have to consider that problem,” Jol added.

  • I don`t care if Jol-ly Martin has to pick himself to play so long as City pick up the 3 points! I don`t believe in "bogey" teams; every game is different and usually with a different set of players. We can beat them. We beat A*****l and ManU. Go do it, Hoots!! Btw, I`m fed up with having to asterixificate the Gunners. Pathetic, Ar-chant!

  • Is having 12 'internationals' in your squad a big problem? I guess that CH would happily live with that sort of problem. Presumably Jol knew that most of them were 'internationals' anyway, when they were bought. Sounds a bit like 'getting your excuses in early'. Of course, CH would never do that.

  • Only 12 internationals! Shame...We will only get 3 points if we change formation. If we played 4-4-2 I reckon we would be 3 up by half time! We really need to win this one as Fulham have a very poor away record and it would push them back into the relegation dogfight. I fear that if offered both managers would take a 0-0 draw now if it were offered...I see as being last on MOTD again...

  • There was some criticism of the club that they had not got Kamara's work permit confirmed on transfer date. But Fulham still haven't confirmed two of their transfers in's work permit's. Again people trolling for nowt.
