Burnley have completed the £1.1m signing of former Norwich City centre-back Jason Shackell on a four-year deal.
Clarets boss Eddie Howe had made 28-year-old Shackell his number one defensive target this summer after missing out to Derby for the defender 12 months ago.
One of Shackell’s ex-Canary central defensive partners is also on the move with Gary Doherty signing a two-year contract with League Two club Wycombe after being released by Charlton.
Doherty, 32, played 13 matches on loan to Wycombe last season.

Doc was Player of the Year once, wasn`t he? I used to cringe when he started wrapping his arms round forwards in the Penalty area! All-in wrestling. Scored a few useful goals, too. He was played as a striker for a while, when we didn`t have one. Definitely a good ol` boi!

Doc had his own unique style which at times at you on thedge of your seat but another good honest professional and good to hear he is still wanted. Shacks I agree with MB I thought he would make the big time I wish him well.

Can't believe Shackell's only 28. I thought he was about 32. Seems to have been around forever. Lee Croft- met him on a "meet the players" social evening once. He was one of our best players @ the time. He was all nicey-nicey. Few weeks later he bangs in a transfer request ! He went from hero to zero in about a week. He must've had a bit of a dip in form to be lent to Oldham....

same here, MB, I thought he was going to get to the big time. The first time I saw him was against Cardiff and all the hype during the week had been about what a threat Earnshaw would be. But Shacks had him in his pocket.

Derby have let Lee Croft go on loan to Oldham (surplus to requirements) and Sammy Clingan is a free agent after his Coventry contract expired. Apparently, the Coventry fans nicknamed him "Sammy the Crab" because he only passed sideways. Ray Wilkins made a stellar career out of that!

Jason`s been around a bit now. His transfer fee is holding up quite well. At one time I thought he was going to make it to the big time; good player. Derby seem to be having a clear-out. Good old Doc! He`ll play until he drops. All good wishes to the `Ginger Pele`!
