What the pundits predict:

Michael Bailey – Norwich City correspondent

(Norwich City’s score first)

Feb 23 Spurs (H) W 2-1

Mar 2 Aston Villa (A) D 2-2

Mar 8 Stoke (H) W 1-0

Mar 15 Southampton (A) L 0-2

Mar 22 Sunderland (H) D 1-1

Mar 29 Swansea (A) D 0-0

Apr 5 West Brom (H) W 2-0

Apr 12 Fulham (A) D 1-1

Apr 19 Liverpool (H)L 1-3

Apr 26 Man Utd (A) L 0-2

May 3 Chelsea (A) L 0-4

May 11 Arsenal (H) L 1-2

Points picked up: 13

City’s final tally: 38 – SAFE

Will City survive, how and why? Michael says: It’s clear Norwich won’t reach their target of ‘continuous improvement’ in terms of results – but it’s been simply about survival for a long time now. If you write off the final four fixtures, then equally you should back City to get the points they need from the eight before. A favour from Chris Hughton’s old side would be the perfect start.

Chris Lakey – Sport editor

(Norwich City’s score first)

Feb 23 Spurs (H) L 0-2

Mar 2 Aston Villa (A) D 1-1

Mar 8 Stoke (H) W 1-0

Mar 15 Southampton (A) L 0-2

Mar 22 Sunderland (H) W 2-1

Mar 29 Swansea (A) D 1-1

Apr 5 West Brom (H) W 2-1

Apr 12 Fulham (A) L 0-1

Apr 19 Liverpool (H) L 0-3

Apr 26 Man Utd (A) L 0-1

May 3 Chelsea (A) L 0-3

May 11 Arsenal (H) L 0-3

Points picked up: 11

City’s final tally: 36 – DOWN

Will City survive, how and why? Chris says: This could be a skin of their teeth job – and these predictions are me being optimistic. City’s goal difference might well just send them down.

Tomorrow: Mark Armstrong and Ex-City Striker Iwan Roberts give their verdicts.

  • To answer the first question you posed,Gek, (on another board) her value is probably not as much as a Rack o' Welch..........sorry, best I could do in my inebriated circumstances. To answer your second question, no, I have never lived or worked in IP6 (your Barking) nor have I ever lived or worked in RM10 (BP's Barking). However, I'm actively searching for another Barking to move to because I realise now that until one has been closely associated with Barking, one can never achieve the iconic status enjoyed on these boards by your good self and your good vriend Mr Punton. Now....about these photos which adorn the articles penned by Archie's little helpers, I'm sure the one on the previous page featuring Hoops and Snod is a repeat. I know this because I commented at the time that Hooper looked like he was trying to screw his head back on.......or maybe it was that Snoddy had forgotten to remove the coat hanger from his shirt....or maybe both. It matters not. The point is that Archie's back catalogue of City action photos seems to be about as well stocked as Radio Pitchfork's record archive. The photo above of Elmander in his pretty little monogrammed red boots is not one I've seen before, but it's still a picture of Elmander and therefore quite hard to stomach. I feel a letter to the picture editor coming on. Meanwhile, I wonder what episode three of Archie's "predictions" series holds in store tomorrow. My money's on more starry-eyed optimism from McNally sycophants and a photo of Duncan Forbes. I'm off to learn the art of précis and claw my way back into the good books of my ubiquitous friend and all round good egg, Gek Broewer More canine sagacity tomorrow perhaps.

  • Wijs; the aberrant ZX80, (or something like that), reference was an unfavourable comparison between Archie`s current IT System and a very early Sinclair personal computer, late 70s (ish) - a precursor to the probably better known ZX Spectrum PC. The backslash was a tip for you, as you seemed to be trying to use a forward slash in an earlier posting. So the BrewerBurglecut show could`ve become the Brewer\Burglecut show. On these boards, forwardslash does not work, Back\slash does. That`s all. On the subject of Degrees in Smarta**ery, you did it again with your `McCartney` response to tonyb`s `lennon`. You can do better than that. Must try harder. Try pressing `Delete` before `Send`. Exam resit offered. The Smarta**e thing reminds me of a David Frost jibe on `That Was The Week That Was` (TW3), when commenting on the verbal skirmishes between Labour`s Harold Wilson and the Tory Laird, Sir Alec Douglas-Exhumed:- "Smart Alec versus Dull Alec". Brilliant, Sir David.

  • Mind if I weigh in here? I hate to muscle in on the BrewerBurglecut show ( repeats and all). Two things: I loved your piece, Mattias, so don't listen to Gek (he's been much more prolific with his keyboard today than you have). I don't think Swansea will go down, but I bow to your wisdom in these matters; the rest of it was right on the money. Second thing : good arn yer, Chris Lakey.....at last a writer who's not subject to a three line whip and not afraid to state the obvious for fear of upsetting the paymasters at Ruin Tower and the power brokers at the Carra. Must be a freelance. OK, Brew and Burgle, it's all yours.

They are just McNallys mouth piece, that's why there are so many articles that are bland regurgitation of the same old tired story. I guarantee tomorrow will be an article by amother player, backing the lads to survive, as they have great spirit and fight. Boring

  • This is me being super optimistic, I can only see at the most 11 more points meaning total of 36pts. Worrying. Sunderland, WBA & Stoke at home MUST be 3 winsIn my tally ive got us down for 2 wins & a draw from those huge games. Got us doiwn for losses against the big boys with the only shocks being 3pts (somehow) this week against Spurs and maybe a draw last day against Arsenal depending how we (and they stand). Cant see us getting anything from Villa & Fulham for various reasons. Saints away? Maybe a draw but down as a loss for me. Swansea away could be a huge game, especially if they are struggling still, however....when a team needs an easy 3pts who do they have to play....NCFC....so no doubt in true Cardiff, Hammers, fulham style we will find a way to gift them a vital 3pts. There is a lot of ifs and buts but still feel the damage has already been done based on our run in compared to others and how they've acted and halted there slides on the most part. Looking for 3 teams worse is tricky. The likes of Sunderland (since Poyet took over), West Ham (with Carrol playing) etc...have all picked up and I can see them achieving more than 11 points. Looking Palace look solid & safe under Tony P! Strugglers? Hopefully Cardiff's new players wont prove to be enough. For me Unless Michu returns soon, swansea are in big trouble. There transfer window deals did nothing for me. The other team will be us im sorry to say. Cant see it any other way. The only hope im clinging on to....West Brom. Hoping it all goes wrong for Pepe Mel. Got a good friend who is a baggies fan and hes confident they will stay up though. I made the point to him that they always seem to struggle 1st half, but like he said in reply....there manager always seems to spot this and changes to save the game or improve vastly at HT (something we cannot do!). I had Fulham down until they stunned me appointing Magath. Saying that, hopefully the chairman keeps getting involved causing havoc! Clutching at straws now though. Everyone else I see being ok or pulling off enough points to top ussurpass us. Been wrong plenty of times before though, hopefully this is another one of them times. :) OTBC

In a recent post I recall you saying that you only picked people up on their syntax, punctuation etc if they were either "rude, smart a**es or ....." something else which I can't recall but inferred it as a reference to me. However I'm heartened by the fact that I was once (albeit briefly) a "top hero". Better to have loved and lost than never loved at all.............or something like that.

You`d be a close-ish neighbour of Saint Delia`s in them paaarts. With a bit of licence and a typo, you could try Wooford, Essex, or Yapham, Yorkshire. There is Barkly-Oost, in Seth Ifrika - you could be a Barkly Boy there. Perhaps we`re barking up the wrong tree? Je vriend, Gek.

  • Think back to when we were thumped 6-0 at Fulham and relegated. One of the most obvious things from that game was that some players had clearly been in discussion with their agents and decided that they were not going to The Championship. A similar thing happened when we went to League One (Lee Croft, that guy Bell and the skinny midfielder who played for Northern Ireland). My point is there could be a very real chance that, if the drop starts to look increasingly inevitable, the same thing will happen again with agents setting up moves and whispering in players ears with the result that, just like at Fulham, there will be players out there over the last few games rather hoping we don’t stay up as they have a ticket out of here anyway. I can think of quite a few senior guys who would want to be waving us farewell as we head for the exit and this, more than anything can eventually determine our fate.
