Leroy Fer returns to training with Norwich City on Monday with Neil Adams insisting there have been no acceptable offers for his World Cup goalscorer.

QPR boss Harry Redknapp has made it clear he wants to recruit the powerful midfielder, who has also been linked with Southampton and Sevilla this summer, but Adams has reiterated he wants the newly-married 24-year-old on board for the Championship assault.

“There is no deal accepted. There is no offer accepted. He is our player and he is back and training with us on Monday,” said Adams. “I have said many, many times I want to keep Leroy. He is coming back from the World Cup and of course there is bound to be interest in him. Ideally you want to keep him.

“He has just had his wedding and his honeymoon and he comes back to us and he is a Norwich City player. I am sure there will be speculation and rumour with him and understandably so. He is a player Premier League clubs are going to want.

“We know our best players will be in demand and if they are and the money gets to a certain level then it’s up to the chief executive and the board to decide if it’s in the interests of the club. They are all top, top players.”

  • I think Fer should stay but only if his heart is with the club, we need a team of players who are going to battle for each other this season

  • el dingo, why don`t you ask that nice Steve Downes to organize a Poll to find out who fans believe is the `worst Norwich City director of all time`? I bet Archie wouldn`t like that... Wasn`t `Boycie` Phillips once an Archant apparatchik? Mr. Downes could always subcontract the job out to that dratted pollpay mob - we might even be paid for participating then...

  • I wish we could transfer out at least one Board member, but then again that's never going to happen. I wouldn't blame Leroy if he went, as much as I hope he stays.

  • Excellent point @borderman. I feel it will be mostly down to whether or not Fer wants to stay (personally, I don't think he will), but we have to keep the nucleus of the team together of we're to challenge for a top 6 place.

  • We fans want Fer to stay, the manager want him to stay, do the board want the money or promotion [You can't have the penny and the bun] because a player of his quality will not be replaced cheaply, time will tell but I think it is good bye !

  • Thanks, Daniel Smith! I thought the tweet I read sounded a bit odd. Michigan, glad you enjoyed the game. Get the feeling players like Young, Cleverley etc will surprisingly be favourites of LVG. Looks like another massive attendance this evening for the Man U Vs Liverpool game! Hope its a good one to continue increasing the American viewing of the sport!

  • Noted the comments about Ashley Young and Cleverley. Watched the Man U vs Real Madrid game Saturday - great game by the way, and broke the record for soccer attendance in the U.S. at 109,318 in the University of Michigan American football stadium, and it wasn't full. Ashley Young was the man of the match, played brilliantly in his new wing-back position and scored two goals. Playing like that he will definitely be in the Man U line up.

  • For the right money sell, but the money must be used to strengthen the squad. Under a new manager will possibly play well everytime he is started but he was very hot and cold last season.

  • Side note and non NCFC related but i've got this insane feeling players like Tom Cleverley & Ashley Young will end up being Van Gaal favourites that while us 'fans' cant understand it, he feels fits his system. A Bit like Kuyt at the world cup. Critics couldn't understand him even getting in the squad, let alone starting most games, but Van Gaal seems big on players 110% fitting what he needs to make his system work. Bit like Jose at Chelsea when he sold Mata to Man Utd. Maybe Chris Hughton could learn a lot from these guys about getting players who fit his system. ;) On a topic related note I truly hope someway, somehow we ended up keeping Leroy, atleast for this season. Truly believe with him in our line up at Championship level, we will destroy teams. Without him, if we are unlucky with injuries I can see us fading into midtable before you know it. Fine line there I know but thats how highly I rate him (even more so at Championship level). Still think a pesky QPR or Southampton will nab him though. Im lead to believe that his contract ends at the end of next season, so maybe the club will hold out until the end of this season and re-think depending if we get promoted or not. I doubt clubs would do anything as silly as Hull did with Snodgrass in last year of his deal, so from a business pov that may be the issue for the club. They dont need to sell, but they 'could' get far than what they could in a years time if they sold now.

  • I hop ethe club can keep Leroy for the coming season, he will stroll the Championship along side Wes and Alex Tettey. Only QPR and Southampton have made confirmed enquiries so far and if the club do get a silly offer, I would imagine that Ronald Keoman would have a lot of pull on this guys decision. Southampton are far more desperate for players and in a healthier position to offer City a cash up front deal. Freeing us up to take Tom Cleverley on loan from Man Utd ;O)

  • He posted an interesting tweet on social media last night that could be taken multiple ways. He wrote "Back in the UK, after a lovely time at our honeymoon in maldives. Up to Norwich...Back to Business". Now depending how much you want to read in or over react you could take it many ways. Some have taken the "up to norwich" comment as his way of answering the 100s of questions from fans about his future seeing as he hadnt been in the country to reply. Some have taken it as someone has bid for him and hes just stating the obvious that it isnt up to him whether the club accept it (which backs up what ive said all along about him not forcing a move). Some have even complained that hes trying to make himself look the innocent party so that if he is sold, fans dont complain at him for moving or forcing it. Personally I dont think its even anything to do with Football. He likely landed from holiday at Standsted etc...and is saying he is now driving 'up to norwich'. Its hard to form real sentences on twitter with a 140 characters limit and as proved with Nathan Redmonds tweets last week, fans need to stop reading into them too much. Im confident he will be here until someone buckles and offers stupid money. My money is still on Southampton or QPR panicking nearer the deadline making an offer no team could refuse.
