While a senior Minor Counties match was taking place between Norfolk and Suffolk at Manor Park, the U14 teams of the counties were also slugging it out in an ECB Royal London Cup match at Woolpit CC.

Norfolk won the toss and elected to bat, and Stephen Moyse and Alfie Cooper proceeded to put on 100 for the first wicket, before Moyse was out caught for 45.

Cooper then batted well with Matthew Bint, before he too was out caught for a sparkling 64. Bint added a half century as did the in-form Oscar Binny as Norfolk posted 249-3 in their 45 overs.

Suffolk made a positive start in their reply, adding 49 for the first wicket in only 10 overs. However, wickets then began to fall regularly and Norfolk kept control of their local rivals.

Fielding was again of a very high quality with some sharp catches and error-free ground fielding.

Angier bowled with pace and beat the bat regularly, but had little luck, and the occasional short ball was dispatched ruthlessly. Binny managed to bring some control with a tight spell. However, it was the four-pronged spin attack featuring the left-hand wrist spin of Ashmanaugh and Barton Wanderers' Cameron Marrable (4-55), the off-spin of Horsford's Kieran Peters (2-36), the slow left arm of Acle's Joe Flatt (1-30) and the leg-spin of Swardeston's Alfie Cooper that pegged back Suffolk and brought the wickets so badly needed by their East Anglian rivals.

In the end, Suffolk reached 223-9 after 45 overs, and Norfolk had won the fixture by 26 runs.
