A week after Southwold etched their name into Norfolk League history another side found themselves in record-breaking form.

This time it was Division Four Saham Toney A who secured the highest-ever second innings run chase to see off league leaders Reepham & Salle by eight wickets.

Reepham won the toss, in a scintillating run-fest which saw more than 640 runs scored in 90 overs, and began brightly by putting on 60 in the first 10 overs on an even-paced and bouncy track. Dan Tipple anchored the innings, and after another wicket, was joined by Tim Nutting who looked to push on further after a fast start.

At the half-way point Salle were 161-2, scoring at a consistent run rate of seven an over. Toney rotated their bowlers but failed to make a breakthrough as Nutting swiftly passed his 50 and Tipple reached his third century in four innings. Tipple fell shortly after with the score on 265 in the 34th over having posted a fantastic 110.

Nutting continued to flay the bowling around the park, but lacked support and strike as Reepham subsided slightly only putting on 55 runs in the last 11 overs, losing four wickets. Reepham had still set a commanding total of 320-6, on what must be the flattest pitch seen in Division Four for quite some time.

Toney started positively in reply looking for the boundary where possible, but both openers fell bowled to Lester looking to break the shackles. The pace-setters felt confident with their opponents at 58-2. Yet Dave Ellis and Matt Wood took the game away from Reepham punishing anything over-pitched and striking some truly colossal blows over the road.

Boundaries were scored consistently throughout the chase as both batsmen compiled runs intelligently, and despite Reepham's best efforts they struggled to join together any real periods of pressure. The required rate never topped nine an over despite the colossal target.

Reepham did have chances to dismiss both batsmen, dropping crucial chances either side of both batsmen logging their centuries. In the end, Saham reached their target with nine balls to spare, thanks to a magnificent 162 not out from Ellis and and an unbeaten 112 from Wood.

The history-makers remain unbeaten as a result and closed the gap on Reepham to 14 points.

North Elmham's Grant King made sure he got in on the batting masterclass in the mid-tier division on Saturday by registering an unbeaten ton himself. His glorious knock saw Elmham beat Ashmanhaugh & Barton Wanderers by a crushing 160 runs as the club kept on the coatails of the top two.

Swanton Morley are just 13 points further back after Will Hudson and Raymond Symon shared a fourth-wicket partnership of 125 runs to set up a big win against Winterton B on a glorious sunny day.

Hudson scored 51, his first half century in men's cricket, whilst Symon scored a classy 79 on his first game of the Saturday season. George Boldero (1), Chris Westbury (3) and Rene Kendal (5) went early as Swanton found themselves in trouble at 15-3. But Hudson and Symon came to the rescue as they guided Morley to 257-8.

Some solid fielding when they took to the field prevented Winterton from piling on the runs, restricting them to 29-0 off the first over. Ryan Hixson and Sebin Devassykutty bowled very tightly, taking figures of 5-2-7-3 and 6-2-17-2 respectively, before Westbury (4-2-9-1) and Boldero (1.5-0-3-2) removed the tail as Winterton crashed out for 82.

'In-form Colclough's excellent ton makes Belton pay the price'

Belton and their unbeaten home record was always going to be put firmly to the test when Martham strode into town sitting pretty at the top of Division One – having not lost any of their completed matches.

Sajid Ali's 55 and Wayne Goreham's 51 were the key components of the hosts' 229-8 from the alloted 45 overs. Yet Brett Colclough, on the back of a ton last week, quickly set about ensuring the pace-setters showed no sign of slowing down their rapid start to 2014.

Colclough reached his century with a push down the ground and was then gifted a second reprieve. His match-winning innings was finally ended and he was caught behind by for 128. But the away side still got home with three wickets to spare – thanks in large to Colclough's sensational knock which contained 17 fours and four sixes.

With the ball, Horsford B's Robbie Clark (5-66) and George Clark (5-41) of Ketteringham Hall did their best to steal the headlines with excellent displays in the top-flight themselves.

In Division Five, Sprowston C beat Halvergate by five wickets yet it's Hethersett & Tas Valley B who continue to be the main talking point.

Their 100pc opening to the campaign never looked in doubt as they hammered Great Yarmouth A by nine wickets. Unbeaten duo John Street (72) and Andy Baker (56) saw the impressive Tas home. Gillingham – who have only lost once themselves in their eight matches – made sure a two-horse race looks set to continue by seeing off Norwich Bystanders A comfortably.

Kevin Springall scored 68 while Ben Wickers bagged himself decent figures of 5-30. Elsewhere, Rocklands A's Matthew Thresh hit a fine 91 not out at just 16 years of age in Division Six as him team beat Ketteringham Hall A.
