Norwich boxer Nathan Dale has been given the all clear to resume fighting after shaking off a troublesome hand injury.
Dale fought just once last year – a July win over Nathan Hardy in Norwich – after surgery to correct the problem.
However, the injury persisted, leaving the 26-year-old former IBF world youth welterweight champion a frustrated onlooker as his planned move to the lightweight ranks hit rocks.
But it looks like the future is bright after Dale tweeted: “After numerous expert diagnoses from many specialists at the hospital and following detailed examination of my recent C scan, I can finally announce that I have been given the all-clear from my recent hand injury. The last few months have been difficult, and tested my mental resolve. I can’t thank my family, friends, sponsors and team-mates enough for the support and encouragement over these past few months.
“New year, new goals. I certainly haven’t been sitting around watching daytime TV. I have maintained my high level of fitness for which I am known, kept to my strict healthy lifestyle and maintained control of my nutritional intake.
“I am in a very good position to get straight back into the gym and to work.
“I intend to get back in the ring as soon as I can and work my way back to where I was – challenging for and winning those lightweight belts.”
