Jake Dixon was a man on a mission in the first of the showdown rounds of the British Superbike Championships at Oulton Park.

Riders lined up in mixed conditions over the weekend, but it made little difference to Dixon on the RAF Regular and Reserves Kawasaki Superbike as he took the full set of pole positions, both races wins and the fastest lap in each race.

Race one, run in wet conditions, was led from the off by Tommy Bridewell, but Dixon swept into the lead as they crossed the line to start lap eight and set about putting a gap between himself and the hard-charging Leon Haslam, who was after the last podium place.

At the end of 16 laps it was Dixon, Bridewell and Haslam on the podium, with Dixon eating into Haslam's points lead, which stood at 100 after Cadwell Park and was looking like an impossible task back then.

Race two and the sun shone over the Cheshire circuit as Dixon took the hole shot going into Old Hall and was never headed as he set about building up a comfortable lead.

But Haslam was on a charge in the closing stages as he closed in on Dixon who took the win with just over a second in hand.

Dixon now trails Haslam by 31 points – with 125 still available.

Conditions for the Superstock 600 race were horrendous, but it failed to deter Rory Skinner and Thetford's new British champion Ryan Vickers as they soon made a break from the pack despite the heavy rain.

Vickers took no time in taking Skinner and assuming his usual position at the front.

However, as he tried to retake the lead, Skinner crashed out for the second race in just over a week.

With a masterful display in the rain, Vickers took the win by a margin of more than 28 seconds for his ninth win out of 10 races so far.

Grant Newstead, from Norwich, came home in 11th place after battling with Josh Wood and Aaron Clarke.

It was another weekend to forget for Morello Racing as Luke Jones was able to manage only 17th in race one and had a DNF in race two.
