The final three races at Brands Hatch will decide the destination of the Ginetta GT4 Supercup crown – with Carl Breeze needing to make up a 34-point gap to Charlie Robertson after the penultimate round at Silverstone.

The King's Lynn racer will also have to keep an eye over his shoulder as double race winner David Pittard is just 41 points from taking his second place.

In qualifying Robertson gained the upper hand over Breeze by starting from fourth on the grid, one place ahead of the local driver, while Pittard showed his paces around the Northampton track by taking pole position.

Breeze made the better start to take third place on the opening lap ahead of Robertson with the Norfolk man holding off the advances of his rival until the 22nd lap when he was demoted to fourth place at Brooklands.

Breeze again got the drop on Robertson during the opening lap of race two, but once more found himself chasing the series leader, unable to dislodge him and having to settle for another fourth place at the finish.

Meanwhile, Pittard's second victory and his second fastest lap has hauled him within striking distance of Breeze's second place as the series finale takes place in two weeks time.

Toftwood's Tom Howard had his second outing in the series and started the opening event just outside of the top 10.

During the opening event Howard had an exuberant race for eighth place with series newcomer Josh Cook and Luke Davenport resulting in all three drivers receiving a five-second time penalty for exceeding the track limits in their entertaining contest. However, Howard was out of luck in race two, failing to complete the opening lap.

Dan Zelos consolidated his fourth place in the Ginetta Junior Championship with his eighth podium of the season after only finishing in ninth place in the first encounter at the Silverstone track. The young Dereham driver planted his car on the front row for the opening race and led away, only to be deposed by James Kellett on the fourth lap. Zelos was then elbowed down to fourth on the eighth lap before regaining a podium place on the following tour while a spin on the following lap after contact saw him resume outside of the top 10 before being classified ninth.

Race two was again a typically closely-fought affair with Zelos losing second on the fourth lap before fighting back to snatch third and finish ahead of his JHR Development team-mate Jack Mitchell and deny him the title which will now be decided at Brands Hatch.

Double Renault Clio champion Josh Files raced for the first time this year on home soil in the Porsche Carrera Cup guest car at Silverstone. The Poringland driver tweeted: 'My first experience in a Porsche Carrera Cup car and I managed P5 and P4 in the races.'
