Lowestoft Town joint boss Ady Gallagher wants their excellent win at Metropolitan Police at the weekend to be “the start of something” ahead of their Ryman League Premier clash at home to East Thurrock this evening.

The Blues look to have finally put a poor run of results in February behind them as Chris Henderson’s double re-established their title credentials as rivals Billericay and AFC Hornchruch dropped points.

But Gallagher doesn’t want their performance on Saturday to be a flash in the pan and hopes the Trawlerboys can build on that display for the visit of East Thurrock this evening.

“It was an excellent performance but it has got to be the start of something. It can’t just be a one-off game – we’ve got to try and maintain that standard for the rest of the season.

“Teams always go through little spells but you have to continue to work hard and you will come out the other side.

“I just think that some of our players have remembered that form is temporary and class is permanent. I think that two or three players are starting to rediscover their best form and that has helped us.”

Greg Crane (hamstring) is unlikely to be available while Sam Gaughran is definitely out due to other commitments although Matt Halliday is expected to shrug off a neck injury and make himself available.

Lowestoft would certainly take a similar result to what they achieved at East Thurrock back in September when Lubo Guentchev starred in a 3-1 win but Gallagher is expecting The Rocks to be a tougher proposition this time around.

“I think you can see from their run in the Trophy that they are a decent side and they have improved through the season.

“Having said that we believe that if we get it right and we hit the standards that we hit on Saturday then not many teams can live with us at this level.”
