A Jack Defty double kept Lowestoft’s promotion challenge firmly on track as they moved up to fourth in the Ryman League Premier Division last night.

Defty opened the scoring in the 10th minute when he headed in Lee Smith’s cross.

The visitors extended their lead on 23 minutes when Defty chested the ball down to Erkan Okay on the edge of the area and he hit a sublime curling effort into the net.

The crucial third goal arrived just past the hour mark when Smith pulled the ball back from the touchline and Defty’s shot from the centre of the area took a deflection on its way past the keeper.

The hosts refused to give up and pulled a goal back four minutes from time when a header back across goal from a corner was bundled in on the line.
