Lowestoft Town director of football Craig Fleming saluted “a proper all-round performance” after seeing his side stroll to victory against Harrow Borough at Crown Meadow this afternoon.

The Blues effortlessly brushed aside the visitors with a performance that confirmed they are likely to be right in the promotion mix once again come the end of the season.

Greg Crane got the ball rolling with a sixth minute header before a Garry Jones own goal doubled the Blues’ lead before the break. Chris Henderson’s fine solo effort early in the second half ended any chance of a Harrow comeback and Fleming was delighted with the ruthless nature of his side’s display.

“It was very good - we were disappointing last Monday but I think the travelling and the game before had a lot to do with that performance,” he said. “I thought it was a proper all-round performance – we looked and we looked a threat going forward as well.”

Fleming was delighted to see his side keep their first clean sheet of the season with Harrow rarely offering a threat going forward.

“I thought the back five were tremendous – they made the right decisions all through the game and just did their jobs,” he added. “It’s always nice to keep a clean sheet because it’s been a long time coming – hopefully it will be the start of many.”

While he may not have got on the scoresheet, Jack Defty’s performance caught the eye with the summer signing from King’s Lynn Town being the fulcrum to most of Lowestoft’s forays forward.

Fleming is not surprised at how quickly Defty has settled into his new surroundings.

“I played with him at King’s Lynn in the short spell that I was there and ever since I’ve been here I’ve been trying to get him in,” he said. “I’m delighted to have him – he’s such a threat and he wins just about all his headers. His hold-up play is terrific and he’s a very good footballer.”
