Lowestoft Town’s injury crisis went from bad to worse at Thamesmead as Andrew Fisk and Curtis Haynes-Brown joined the club’s casualty list following an ill-tempered affair at Thamesmead.

The starting line-up had picked itself with the club having only 11 fit senior players available, but Fisk and Haynes-Brown had to be replaced in the second half following bad challenges.

Playing against a very strong wind Lowestoft took the game to Thamesmead in the opening spell. Robert Eagle and Chris Henderson exchanged passes but the latter’s shot hit the post and bounced away.

Lowestoft deservedly took the lead in the 14th minute. Stuart Ainsley’s throw in was returned to him by Eagle and his cross into the six-yard box was missed by everyone except Jay Porter who could only deflect it into his own goal.

Lowestoft were close to adding a second goal but Rossi Jarvis’ 20-yard drive smacked against the angle of post and bar and bounced away.

Lowestoft started the second half on the offensive and the best move of the game saw Henderson and Jack Ainsley combine to find Eagle whose volley was superbly turned away by Budd.

Against the wind Thamesmead were coming more into the game and they levelled the scores on the hour through Junior Baker.

Just six minutes later Lowestoft received another blow as Fisk was the victim of an horrendous tackle which resulted in him needing hospital treatment for a badly gashed ankle with Luke Bailey substituting. Ten minutes later Haynes-Brown had to be replaced by Adam Fitzgerald following another reckless tackle.

Lowestoft looked to have won the game when they took the lead with just two minutes of normal time left to play. A superb run by Eagle saw him leave three defenders in his wake before sending in a perfect cross for Jake Reed to head home.

However two minutes into added time Thamesmead were awarded a very dubious penalty and Lewis Tozer blasted home.
