The race for the West Norfolk Scaffolding Sunday League title swung in England Hope’s favour for the first time as Terrington dropped two points away at a resurgent Lynn Napier.
Napier went into a two-goal lead before Terrington staged a fightback to lead 3-2 – only for a penalty at the death to give Napier a well deserved point. Sam Moses, Aaron Clifford and Rocky Mayes scored for The ‘Nap. Kaz Bettlestone, Neil Goodbourn and an own goal helped Terrington earn a draw.
England’s Hope capitalised on the league leader’s slip with a 5-1 win away at March Saracens. Hope now sit three points behind Terrington with a game in hand and, should they win that it by three or more, they will snatch top spot. Goals for Hope came from Ben Jimson, Dean Jimson, Luke Jackson, Nigel Jackson and Jake Fenn.
The game between Wisbech CP8 and Chilvers was postponed because Chilvers were unable to raise a side.
Elm and Adrian Flux shared eight goals in their Division Two showdown – although the scoreline doesn’t tell the whole story.
Elm took the lead, before Flux led 2-1. Elm then equalised but the game took a bizarre turn as Flux took the lead 4-2 after having two penalties saved by the Elm goalkeeper. Elm then proceeded to score two very late goals to snatch a 4-4 draw.
Ashton Hodgson (3) and Dave Abbott scored for Elm, with Peter Sanctuary (3) and Jon Howlett on the mark for Flux.
FANG kept themselves in the title race with an 8-0 win at Terrington Reserves. The result was never in doubt as FANG extended their goal difference to 51 in just nine games. Scoring for FANG were Michael Rix, Joseph Malby, Alex Vincent, Tom Cunliffe, Sam Hewitt, James Buhlemann and debutant Michael Wood scoring twice.
In the Division Two Knockout Cup Maltings edged Fowler 2-1 to progress to their first ever final. Stephen Reeve had put Fowler ahead before Simon Powley and Kyle Plumb scored, the winner coming five minutes from the end.
Maltings will now play FANG in the final, at Fakenham Town FC.
