Hornchurch host Ryman Premier Division rivals Concord tomorrow on a high.

Urchins earned an FA Trophy trip down to Devon, to take on Bideford, with a last-gasp win at Margate last weekend.

And they followed that with a six-goal salvo at Eton Manor in the Essex Senior Cup.

Jimmy McFarlane’s men have lost just one of their last eight games - a penalty shoot-out defeat at East Thurrock in the league cup - and he said: “It’s a great run considering it has come on the back of a 7-1 drubbing [at Tonbridge].

“I said to the players the sign of a good side is how quickly you come out of a bad spell.

“We’ve got strong characters in the room and look solid.”

Andy Tomlinson returned to first-team action against Manor, netting the final goal in a 6-1 success.

McFarlane added: “Tommo had an op in the summer and it’s nice to have him back.

“He’s had two or three games for Barkingside and had played Eton Manor on Saturday funnily enough.

“He’s had 90 minutes in the Capital League and he will be involved with us now.

“He gives you something. He’s got bags of enthusiasm and when he plays well, we seem to play well.”
