Wroxham have this afternoon completed the signing of former King’s Lynn Town player Danny White along with two other midfielders.
White announced on Twitter last night that he was going to leave The Walks and has quickly decided to return to the Yachtsmen after a two-year stint at Lynn.
The popular Thetford-based midfielder suggested increased travelling demands following the Linnets promotion to Evo-Stik Division One South (Northern League) made it impossible for him to stay with Gary Setchell’s side.
His arrival further strengthens David Batch’s Ryman Division One North (Isthmian League) midfield options after Gavin Lemmon and Matt Daniels also re-signed for the Eastern Counties Premier Division champions.
Wroxham stalwart, and vice-captain Lemmon, will join the team’s strength and flexibility training tomorrow after recovering from injury.
However, Daniels’ return comes as a surprise after the players’ player of the year - who Batch hailed as the best player in the league last season - cut short his spell in Australia.
Central defender Matt Halliday became Wroxham’s first signing of the close season from Lowestoft Town earlier this week.
The former Norwich City professional, set for his first spell at Trafford Park since the 2008/09 campaign, will provide stern competition for the likes of Graham Challen and Josh Carus.
Batch said: “Matt is young enough, hungry enough, local enough with good quality and versatility.
He is the sort of signing we want to bring into the club as he has the experience of playing at places where we will be going next season. But he will come here and like everyone else, will have to fight for his place.
“Signing from a club higher in the pyramid doesn’t mean a player should take his foot off the gas, and I want him putting more effort into becoming a really good player than he has ever done before.
“I am certain our training regime will help him to do this, and he will join us for our second close season training event this week.”
One player who won’t be wearing a Wroxham shirt next season is midfielder Gary Gilmore. Work commitments means he is unable to play for the club now they’re travelling longer distances at Step Four.
