King’s Lynn Town made it two wins out of two as they passed their first away test of the new campaign with a 3-1 win at Bishops Stortford.

Linnets boss Ian Culverhouse kept faith with the players who started the 2-0 home win over Gosport Borough on Saturday – and was perfectly rewarded.

Craig Parker scored for the second game in a row to put Lynn ahead, with Leon Mettam adding a second, this time Parker turning provider as he flicked on Ryan Hawkins’ corner and Mettam slotted it home.

The hosts pulled one back before half-time, when Jason Williams’ shot just evaded Linnets’ keeper Alex Street.

But Lynn restored their two-goal cushion just two minutes into the second half. This time it was Michael Gash – who had two goals disallowed on the opening day – who struck, rising high to head home Michael Clunan’s corner.

Bishops Stortford pulled another goal back in time added on, but it was too little, too late.
