Grant Holt was on target in King’s Lynn Town’s 2-1 win over Bishop’s Stortford at The Walks last night.

The former Norwich City striker marked his first start for the Linnets with the opening goal, latching on to Cameron Norman’s cross to head home in the 10th minute.

Ryan Hawkins doubled Lynn’s lead before the break after a fine through ball from Craig Parker but they were pegged back before the break when a mistake by Sam Gaughran allowed Freddy Moncur to reduce the arrears.

Hawkins almost got his second of the evening at the start of the second half after good work by Holt but Bishop’s Stortford almost grabbed a share of the spoils late on.

Alex Street was forced into a fine save to deny Jason Williams and Lynn held on for all three points to stay second in the table as table-toppers Slough Town thrashed Gosport Borough 5-1.

Lynn are back in action this weekend when they take on Bostik Division One North side Mildenhall Town at The Walks in the FA Trophy.
