Rob Lyon believes Maciej Janowski’s magical pass during heat 15 of King’s Lynn’s comfortable victory on Wednesday had shades of Stars’ legend Henka Gustafsson about it.

Hot-prospect Janowski, nicknamed ‘Magic’, somehow squeezed up the inside of Wolverhampton’s Speedway Grand Prix star Freddie Lindgren on the final turn of the evening to grab second place and secure another 5-1 race win for Lynn.

The pass rounded off a fine night for the Stars, who thumped Wolves 58-35, and Lyon admits the Polish World Under-21 star reminded him of iconic Swede Gustafsson during his daring final-lap manoeuvre.

The Stars team boss said: “Magic knows what it’s about and he’s found his feet in England already.

“However, Wednesday night was only his third ride for us at home and I think it was a sign of things to come. He’s enjoying King’s Lynn’s track and I think it shows in his racing.

“His move in heat 15 was fantastic. It was reminiscent of the legendary Henka Gustafsson and the way he used to overtake people on the third and fourth turn. It was an exciting moment and a great send-off to the evening. The fans can see he is an exciting rider and I’m certain there’s more to come from him and everybody.”

Red-hot number one Niels-Kristian Iversen continued his stunning early season form as he collected 13 points in Lynn’s first home meeting since their Good Friday defeat to Peterborough.

However, Lyon insists it was the performance of all of his riders - who apart from home debutant Mateusz Szczepaniak all scored six points or more - that pleased him most.

He said: “It was a good performance by the team and everybody was pleased to get a home meeting under their belts. Once Mateusz gets set up and sorted we’ve got a team that’s capable of doing pretty well.

“We took a little while to get the race rustiness around King’s Lynn out of the way but once we did we performed well as a unit.

“It’s a sign of positive things to come for the club and now we need to kick on and build that momentum for the next few meetings.”

Lynn return to action on Wednesday when they welcome in-form Lakeside Hammers to the Norfolk Arena.
