Norfolk’s Lewis Kerr has landed a dream slot in Great Britain’s Speedway World Cup squad ahead of this month’s illustrious competition.
The King’s Lynn Stars rider has been named in a GB line-up for the first time during his career following a fantastic rise from the Young Stars’ National League side to the club’s Elite League-leading outfit.
Kerr, 24, from Heacham, will – if selected by boss Alun Rossiter – compete at his home Norfolk Arena track in Event One on Saturday July 26. GB take on Australia, USA and a qualifying country that evening.
Swindon Robins boss Rossiter, whose men host Lynn this evening, will whittle his provisional 10-man line-up down to five at some point later this month.
Full squad: Tai Woffinden (Captain, Wolverhampton), Chris Harris (Coventry), Danny King (Birmingham/Newcastle), Craig Cook (Belle Vue/Edinburgh), Simon Stead (Leicester/Sheffield), Richie Worrall (Belle Vue/Ipswich), Richard Lawson (Lakeside/Redcar), Ben Barker (Birmingham/Plymouth), Lewis Bridger (Lakeside), Lewis Kerr (King’s Lynn/Newcastle)
