Lynn asset Kozza Smith will replace the Czech in a doubling up role at reseve alongside Sam Masters. Smith has been racing in the Premier League at Berwick but is no longer part of Belle Vue’s top flight plans this season after previously featuring against the Stars.

“It’s great to have Kozza on board, he’s a young enthusiastic rider who has had a great season so far,” said Stars’ co-promoter Jonathan Chapman. “We hope he is going to play a vital part of the team gaining a place in the play-offs, I would like to thank Belle Vue for releasing him in time to make his debut on Monday against Wolves.”

Topinka has struggled in the top flight this season and was switched to reserve in recent weeks. Lynn’s former skipper picked up an encouraging paid seven on his first bottom end outing against Peterborough last month but signed off with paid four in Wednesday’s 48-44 home defeat.
