Lynn sent out an emphatic message to the rest of the Evo-Stik Premier Division by crushing Rushall at The Walks tonight.
Gary Setchell’s promoted men hammered last season’s sixth-placed finishers in their first home league game of the season to get their Step Three campaign up and running.
Dan Jacob grabbed the limelight with a hat-trick but it was his team’s three goals inside 10 first-half minutes which was the main factor in helping them bounce back from Saturday’s opening day defeat at Nantwich Town.
For a while, it looked like the hosts were going to struggle again as the Pics – who started with former Premier League frontman and veteran striker Dele Adebola in their ranks – threated to blow Lynn away. Dave Walker, Josh Craddock and Lee Downes all went close. But Lynn soon got to grips with their opponents’ rapid tempo and took the lead when Jacob volleyed home George Thomson’s headed through ball. The frontman grabbed his second minutes later when he charged down ‘keeper Lewis Solly’s clearance and the ball rebounded into an empty net. Thomson had The Walks rocking when his swerving piledriver from 30 yards wrongfooted Solly to make it three. And the fun continued after the break as Olympic, who had Lee Downes sent off early after the re-start for a second booking, crumbled again.
Left-back Jordan Yong’s excellent run and centre was turned home by an unmarked Jacob at the back post to wrap up his treble. Andy Hall finished off a great move after being found by substitute Steve Spriggs’ raking crossfield pass. And Ewan Clarke glanced home Hall’s cross late on to complete a six-y show.

Gary Setchell believes patience played a huge part in King’s Lynn Town’s thumping of Stafford Rangers.
