Stormy conditions have ensured King’s Lynn Town will not be in Evo-Stik Premier Division action this afternoon.

Heavy overnight rain in Northwich forced Witton Albion to call an 8am pitch inspection as they prepared to host the Linnets. And it was one that failed with the playing surface still deemed to be waterlogged.

A brief statement on the Albion website said: “Due to the adverse weather conditions and heavy rain, today’s game against King’s Lynn Town is postponed. Details of the new date will be given as soon as it is arranged.”

As a result, Gary Setchell’s side’s next league action will take place at home on Saturday when they entertain leaders Skelmersdale United.

But first they visit Diss Town on Tuesday for a Norfolk Senior Cup quarter-final. Although higher-level Lynn are likely to field a largely reserve-based side, midfielder Dan Quigley will now be suspended after failing to sit out the second of his two-game ban today.
