Danish duo Niels-Kristian Iversen and Kenneth Bjerre will once again be looking to do themselves and King’s Lynn proud in Poland this evening.
The Stars’ heat leaders line-up in the second round of the 2014 Speedway Grand Prix series at the iconic Bydgoszcz track looking to add to their points tally.
And it’s Iversen who will be most keen to haul himself back up the standings after collecting just six points in the opening meeting of the campaign in New Zealand.
However, Bjerre - on his return to the GP scene - performed far better in Kiwiland and recorded a more-than-decent haul of 11 after reaching the semi-finals.
The maiden event of the year was won by Martin Smolinski but it’s certainly far too early to suggest he is among the favourites for Tai Woffinden’s crown.
But surely if Iversen and Bjerre can continue their red-hot form for the Stars, which has helped take their team to the top of the early Elite League table, they’ll surely have a chance of scoring well in Europe.
World champion Woffinden however has struggled for Wolves this term and only scored paid six during his side’s loss at Lynn on Wednesday night. That said, the exciting rider - more commonly known as Woffy - isn’t hitting the panic button just yet.
He told SpeedwayGP.com: “There was no way I was ever going to show world championship winning form right from the start of this season, was there?
“I feel fine, honestly I do. Yes, the scores haven’t been what I would have wanted, but I feel fine mentally and on the physical side I’m getting there too.
“I’m always disappointed when I don’t score the points for Wolverhampton because they need me as a powerful spearhead. I ran three lasts in a Polish league meeting for Wroclaw early on too which was more than the entire 2013 season!
“But I’m not ready to press the panic button. I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am about riding in Bydgoszcz.”
