Rob Lyon wants his King’s Lynn fliers to build on one of their best performances in recent years by beating Wolverhampton tonight.

Teams

Lynn: 1 Niels-Kristian Iversen, 2 Nicklas Porsing, 3 Rory Schlein, 4 Robert Lambert, 5 Kenneth Bjerre,
6 Lewis Kerr, 7 Lewis Rose

Wolves: 1 Tai Woffinden, 2 Jacob Thorssell, 3 Ty Proctor, 4 Ricky Wells, 5 Piotr Pawlicki, 6 Joe Jacobs,
7 Ashley Morris

The Stars annihilated Birmingham Brummies 60-30 on their own shale on Friday to keep up their hugely impressive start to the 2014 Elite League campaign.

With confidence high, and having recorded two maximum-points home victories already, Lynn’s team boss is calling on his men to secure another Norfolk Arena triumph this evening.

Lyon said: “I would say Birmingham was one of our best wins since coming back into the Elite League (2011). It was definitely our most controlling performance, without a doubt.

“It was a combination of Birmingham not being at the races and our boys being up for the task at hand. It always is a combination of the two. But it was a terrific performance from the boys.

Lynn have picked up at least three points from every meeting so far this season – apart from at Wolves.

“When you’re winning you take that confidence into the next meeting and that seems to have happened with us so far. So I’d be disappointed if we didn’t come away with all three points tonight, especially if we ride as we have done in our previous matches, but we’ve got to make sure we concentrate on our own performance as Wolves won’t be no pushovers.”

The Stars have picked up 14 points out of a possible 18 from their five fixtures this term. They have only tasted defeat once and that was at Wolves by 47 points to 42 on Monday, April 14. A controversial exclusive for number one Niels-Kristian Iversen in heat 11 saw Lynn’s hopes of winning the meeting go up in smoke, but Lyon was pleased his side battled back to pick up a losing bonus point at Monmore Green.

Lynn’s team boss added: “We started to believe that we could pull it off and Niels’ exclusion pretty much put us on the back foot.

“But we’d have taken a point beforehand and I’ve said if we can keep our home record pretty much in tact, and pick up points away, we’ll be there or thereabouts.

“It’s early days and we’re not getting carried away. We’ve had a great start but we just want to try and keep that momentum going.”
