King’s Lynn’s CWA Fury will be looking to get their Christmas party started early by beating Ware Rebels tonight.
The basketball outfit’s under-14s and 16s will be in action prior to the senior side’s last home game before December 25. The men tip off at 6pm against Ware, who are also sitting in the top half of the National League Division Four (South East) table.
After the game, the doors are being opened to players, partners, families and supporters for a festive party in the bar in Lynnsport till 11pm. All supporters who watched the game are also invited to stay afterwards and meet the players.
The game is even more pivotal for the Norfolk club after they lost 89-84 to Cambridge Cats at the weekend. Fury were mauled in the third period of the game, losing it 27-7, on a disappointing day.
Coach James Bamfield said: “We can take a lot of heart from the game. It was obviously disappointing to lose as I thought we had total control of the game but there was a much clearer understanding our game plan.
“I haven’t seen us click like we did in the first half for several weeks and we can build on that ready for this evening. I read somewhere a great quote about how the top top teams have the ability under pressure to make a lot of mistakes, miss shots, not get the rub of the call from the referees and still play with the same belief and commitment on any given play so if you just started watching a game you wouldn’t know it had been going bad.
“Whereas the bad teams when bad things happen tend to think bad and give up on the game plan and play with less focus or commitment or as individuals. We’ve got the tools to see pressure and take advantage within our game plan.”
