King’s Lynn Stars were well beaten at title chasing Wolverhampton Wolves last night in a fixture which didn’t go the full distance.
The final SGB Premiership meeting before the cut-off date saw the Stars trailing 48-24 when time was called because of rules governing late racing at Monmore.
The meeting was part of a double header and a curfew meant the action had to stop.
A tough evening for the Stars was summed up when Thomas Jorgensen was disqualified from a heat for wearing a wrong coloured helmet, while earlier Josh Auty and home rider Tom Perry needed medical attention after a collision.
Wolves dominated from the word go and soon built up a big lead with a string of 5-1s and 4-2s before a couple of 3-3s brought the score back to 33-14.
The one-side nature of the meeting then continued, although a Robert Lambert heat win gave Lynn something to smile about.
Wolves had earlier seen off Swindon Robins 52-38.
