King’s Lynn head to Swindon on Monday evening for the first leg of their Knockout Cup semi-final (7.30).

The Stars face the outgoing Premiership champions at the Abbey Stadium with the second leg a week later (September 17) at the Adrian Flux Arena.

With their league play-off quest beginning on September 24, team boss Dale Allitt is looking for his side to carry through their recent momentum which has seen them win eight of their last nine fixtures. “Of course we want to keep things going positively and we want to keep our confidence up going into the play-offs,” Allitt said.

“But the Knockout Cup is another great opportunity for us to add some silverware to our cabinet.

“Swindon are a solid team on paper and can be tough to beat on their own track.

“So we’ll just go there, give it our best shot and hopefully we’ll be in good shape ahead of the return next week.”

Swindon chief Alun Rossiter knows his side will be the underdogs and he will be looking for an improvement on their recent form.

Rossiter said: “It’s going to be a really tough semi-final – King’s Lynn are a very strong side, and they didn’t top the league table for no reason.

“But I still firmly believe that our side is more than a match for anyone. We just need everyone clicking on the same night, and if we do that then we can score heavily.

“Obviously we have to be much better than Thursday. I don’t know what was wrong, everyone was up for it beforehand, but certainly we have to be faster from the gate.

“I don’t set targets but clearly we need to be looking to take a lead into the second leg.”

Swindon: Troy Batchelor, Adam Ellis, David Bellego, Tobiasz Musielak, Nick Morris, Zach Wajtknecht, Jack Smith.

King’s Lynn: Robert Lambert, Erik Riss, Ty Proctor R/R, Thomas Jorgensen, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Michael Palm Toft, Simon Lambert.
