Dereham produced a quality performance to take all three points home from north London.

It means the Magpies are second in the table, just a point behind Canvey Island and one ahead of AFC Hornchurch.

The Magpies were dangerous from the start – after just four minutes Ryan Crisp was put through from midfield but fired across goal and wide. Minutes later the Magpies won a free-kick 30 yards out and Danny Beaumont’s curler forced home keeper Montel Joseph into a full-length save.

The hosts’ first opportunity came when Carl McCluskey passed inside to Tom Bruno who hit a diagonal drive that Elliot Pride turned to safety.

Playing against a strong breeze, Dereham were competing well and Rhys Logan twice shot inches off target following well-worked moves. As play switched ends the dangerous Jason Hallett headed Joe O’Brien’s centre wide.

Dereham then won a corner on the right – Logan’s low cross caused panic in the home defence with four close-range efforts blocked. As half-time approached Jamie Forshaw and Ashley Jarvis set up Logan but his low drive was saved.

However, the Magpies went ahead on the stroke of half-time when Beaumont’s centre from the left was firmly headed home by Jake Anema.

David Hinton fired a low drive into Joseph’s arms soon after the break, but the home side came within inches of an equaliser in the 56th minute when McCluskey headed Bruno’s free-kick against the bar.

Dereham doubled in the 64th minute when Agholor brought down Owen Murphy in the box and Beaumont made no mistake from the spot. Dereham produced another chance with Logan flicking Crisp’s cross wide.
