Bob Carter suffered a rare 4-0 maximum defeat in the Tens League as Halvergate produced a superb home performance.

In the pairs Robbie Lamb & Keith Cooke beat Simon Willies & Jason Woods 18-10 while Carter scored their only win of the match with Jamie Forster & Gary Best beating Ryan Fox & David Lamb 19-16. Both triples games saw Halvergate dominate proceedings with Jackie Smith, Ray Lamb & Morgan Warnes beating Elaine Willies, Steve Bridge & Melly Woods 14-5 while David Knights, Steven Lamb & Simon Warnes beat Jean Woods, Nigel Willard & John Turner 18-9.

In the SNL Connaught beat Saxlingham 8-2 with Owen Secker’s triple winning 25-8 and Mike Minshull’s triple winning 19-9.

Breckland League action saw Carleton Rode blown away at Wymondham as the defending champions crushed the opposition.

Roger Steele, Brian Saunders & Jack Pye opened with a heavy 31-9 win against Russell Davidson’s triple and any hopes that singles specialist Neil Davidson and his triple would do better quickly evaporated as he slipped to an 18-6 defeat against Mary Fisher, John Jeffery & Jon Sparham.

After the break Hayley Stratton, Mark Linsdell & Chris Mann beat Graham Mobbs’ triple 26-11 and in the only close game of the night Pat Saunders, Melvyn Barker & Debbie Sparham beat Gill Coleman, Karl Newby & Terry Newby 16-13. Wymondham continued their good form at Connaught B where they won 9-1 with Roger Steele, Brian Saunders & Jack Pye storming to a 35-3 win against Mike Utting’s triple while Jon Sparham’s triple won 28-11 against Joan Knox.

Connaught A remain top of the table for now but will be disappointed with losing 6-4 at Harling Unicorns. Mo Tarrant, Daphne Braham & Mike Tarrant beat Sheila Bragg’s triple 20-13 while Gwen Messent, Mike Baker & Edward Jones beat an under-strength Derek Liles triple 24-9. Banham edged to a 6-4 home win against Harling Griffins in a tight match.

Banham’s Ronnie Dunning, Derek Gray & John Williamson earned the match points with a 19-8 win against Stephen Smith’s triple although Val Easter’s triple made a great effort beating Will Hoggan 21-13. Hingham’s Keith Thomas won 24-9 against Banham with the home side collecting all 10 points in a match where the visitors played with a triple short.

Sunday sees Norfolk’s Inter-County Championship campaign continue with a visit to Essex at their new Thundersley venue. Norfolk Premier will hope to continue their unbeaten run while Norfolk A know that a good result is needed if they are to keep their hopes alive of a place in the knock-out rounds.

While Norfolk will be missing the silky skills of Hempnall’s Neil Davidson, who is unavailable for this match, Bob Carter’s Nigel Willard returns to the side after missing the home match against Kent Premier.

At international level there appears to be more questions than answers about the next World Championships.

A World Council meeting held in England decided to go ahead with the event in Sweden as planned but a statement from Bowls Sweden states that “Bowls Sweden does not support this decision and were not present at the meeting held in England on October 15.”
