Great Witchingham face the ultimate challenge on Saturday as they attempt to get their Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League campaign back on track after a painful first defeat of the season.

The Witches face the daunting propsect of hosting defending champions Swardeston a week after a real day to forget at fellow high-flyers Sudbury.

While Swardeston were maintaining their 100 per cent record with a comfortable home win over Cambridge Granta, the Witches were suffering a 10-wicket defeat at the hands of a side who had also won their opening four games.

Having been bowled out for just 121, Sam Arthurton's side know they wil have to bat a lot better against Swardeston at Walcis Park if they are going to get anything out of the game.

There is a second EAPL derby on Saturday, with Norwich taking on Vauxhall Mallards at Ingham in a game between sides who have both lost four of their five games, while Horsford hit the road to take on Frinton.

The quarter-finals of the Carter Cup are being staged on Sunday, with holders Swardeston having a home tie against Fakenham, currently bottom of the Norfolk Alliance Premier Division.

There's a derby at Barkers Lane, with Alliance outfit Sprowston taking on Norwich from the EAPL, while Great Witchingham have home advantage against Downham Town.

One Alliance side is guaranteed to reach the last four, with newly-promoted Acle entertaining Old Buckenham in the other quarter-final.

There are also three matches in the Bob Carter/NACO Shield for teams beaten in the first round: Vauxhall Mallards v North Runcton, Bradfield v Cromer and Horsford v Ashmanhaugh and Barton Wanderers.

Diss go straight through to the semi-finals after being handed a walk-over by Garboldisham.

Meanwhile the venue has been confirmed for Norfolk's MCCA Unicorns KO Trophy quarter-final with Staffordshire on Sunday, June 11 (11am).

The match will take place at Longton on the outskirts of Stoke-on-Trent, with the winners having a home tie in the last four against either Berkshire or Suffolk on July 9.
