Gothic B have stormed up the Premier A table in the Grant Matthewson Norwich & District League after taking maximum points in their last two matches.

Martin Gray and Adam Gigli took all their singles in both matches as CEYMS C and Wensum C slipped below them.

Wensum B dropped a crucial point against Gothic A. Ryan Collins continued his unbeaten run for Wensum, taking all his singles while Philip Logsdon gained a brace for Gothic, but the key result was a fine performance from Henderson and Steve Howlett, who rolled back the years to sneak the doubles 11-9 in the fifth against Ryan Collins and Kit Lo.

In Premier B, Wensum E consolidated their position at the top following a close 6-4 home win over Gothic C. Despite a brace of wins by Joe Taplin and Paul Pegg, the hosts won the remaining games to keep the pressure on second-placed CEYMS D. Third-placed Taverham A lost 7-3 to a Neville Beckett-inspired Telephones A, with Wayne Lubbock offering the most resistance. Telephones B won 7-3 at relegation-threatened Foxwood D.

In Division One, Newton Flotman drew 5-5 with Wensum G. The highlight was Flotman's Kieran Brady's 3-1 win over Wensum's Tony Park, whcih featured some superb rallies and dynamic hitting and defending.

In Division Two there was a long-awaited win for Foxwood H who beat Wensum H 6-4, thanks to a fine maximum from Graham Land. Peter Littleboy did his bit for Wensum, keeping them in the match with a maximum.

Foxwood I proved too strong for Fairfield, winning 9-1 in Division Three.

Three games went to five sets, all of which went Foxwood's way, making the difference between the teams. Tim Okubanjo saved the whitewash. UEA D were too strong for Taverham D as five games went to five sets, with Taverham losing four of them, and the match 7-3.

In Division Four, NCC B won an unusual match against Wensum K 6-4 – with Wensum able to field only two players on the night. Of the five games played, Wensum youngsters Nathan Downes and Daniel Marche won four – Downes two, Marche one as well as victory in the doubles. Only Malcolm Flegg was a winner for NCC, but with the five games conceded NCC ran out the winners.

It was a pointless evening for Shelly Telly, who lost 8-2 to NCC B.
