Bart's Bash took place at Horning Sailing Club last weekend with a good mix of dinghies and keelboats participating in the morning's activities.
Despite the keelboats and dinghies sailing separate courses, there was a convergence of all the fleets at one of the turning buoys close to the corner of the River Bure, with the whole fleet tacking in unison and numerous shouts of 'starboard'.
In the melee, few managed to break free of the pack but it paid off for those who did. First Yeoman and overall winner of the keelboat race on handicap was Geoff Stubb's Tara, with Roger Hannant's Firefly second and Jezebel sailed by David Hannant third, both also Yeomans.
The dinghy race saw several Splashes, a Laser, an Enterprise and a Topper participate. It was won by Thomas Wildman sailing his Laser, with James Pettit and Pippa Edwards second and third respectively, both sailing Splashes.
The wind picked up for the remainder of the races of the day, which were relatively uneventful, save for a Yare & Bure having a problem with rigging, requiring a hasty dropping of sails en route, whilst the two Reedlings racing the afternoon race finished just one second apart.
Next weekend the club is looking forward to hosting an Open Dinghy Weekend, with visiting sailors welcome. They are particularly keen to encourage Enterprise sailors on Sunday to take part in the event for the Woodcock Salver.
