Few beats par to earn final place

Weston Park professional Michael Few has qualified for the final of the Glenmuir PGA Professional Championship at The Belfry from June 14-17.
Few claimed his place when he was runner-up in the East regional qualifier at Gog Magog. He was one of only two players to beat par and shot one-under 71 on the Wandlebury course.
The top 15 players went through to the final and also included Robin Mann of Southwold, who was on the cut mark with three-over 75.
Among the alternates is Sam Cubitt of Lowestoft Driving Range, who returned 76.
The final will on the PGA National course at The Belfry.
• Norfolk professionals Gary Potter and Keith Capindale-Scott scored high finishes in an international field in the Bled senior championship in Slovenia.
Potter, from Great Yarmouth and Caister, was second in the 54-hole event, while Capindale-Scott of Richmond Park was fourth.
Capindale-Scott, who is sponsored by Norfolk Commercials in Dereham suffered with a neck injury for much of last year and at one point thought his golfing days were numbered. But he said: “I’ve got through it and my results are getting pretty strong.”
