Versatile Dan Buhlemann could continue to get more game time away from The Walks this season thanks to Gary Setchell’s good relationship with Matt Henman.

The King’s Lynn Town player, comfortable in defence and midfield, has featured twice for lower-level Dereham Town this term. And Buhlemann, who has signed dual registration forms which allow him to play for Lynn and Dereham because they play in different leagues, would have played for the Aldiss Park club again today had he not been working.

The Magpies boss said: “It’s a week-to-week situation which has been really helpful. He’s come and played two of our biggest games already this season against Wisbech and Walsham-le-Willows which is perfect for us. Everyone knows him, he knows all the lads, so he fits in pretty seamlessly. It’s like he’s been with us all season. He comes in and does his job, can play anywhere across the back four, and is very experienced at our level.

“He’s a King’s Lynn player so that’s his first port of call. If he’s not going to be in their squad then hopefully we can use him. We can give him competitive games which helps King’s Lynn so it’s a win-win for everyone really. I’ve got a lot of respect for Setch and Lynn. And if we can have a good working relationship, which we have, it could be the difference between us getting to Step Four next season or not.”

Buhlemann, 29, made his Lynn debut in 2007. He was Dereham’s player of the year three seasons later before rejoining the Linnets, who he has made just six starts for this term, in 2010.

Setchell said: “He came to me just before Christmas and said he was going to struggle to commit to away games and some Saturdays.

“He’s a great clubman and can do a job in a number of positions. Matt knows him so it’s a common-sense decision. Bully’s getting some football, while helping Matt out. Everyone’s a winner as we don’t want to lose him either.”
