King’s Lynn romped to their second away win of the season last night - at the very same place they won their first.
The Stars travelled to Manchester hoping to do the double over Belle Vue and bring back all four league points and they did just that with one of their most convincing displays of the season.
A win by seven points or more was always going to require a good start from the Stars and they got one, recovering from an opening heat 5-1 against to register four of their own in the next four heats.
Mateusz Szczepaniak, Maciej Janowski and Daniel Nermark all opened up with victories before number one Niels-Kristian Iversen, who registered a rare third place in his first ride, teamed up with fellow Dane Ulrich Ostergaard to put the Stars 12 points ahead.
That allowed the home team to put number one Rory Schlein on a tactical ride and he made full use of it, dragging his side back in the contest with a 7-2 alongside Ales Dryml. The Aces followed that up with a 5-1 two races later and they got back to within three points of the Stars after eight heats.
Kevin Wolbert has struggled for form in recent weeks but the German once again showed his liking for Kirkmanshulme Lane, he won heat nine in impressive fashion to remain unbeaten by an opponent from his first three races, edging his side further in to the lead.
Janowski and Iversen both made it two wins out of three with victories in heat’s 10 and 11 respectively, with Wolbert notching a valuable third place to grab a 4-2 with his captain and give Lynn a nine-point cushion.
The Stars sensed that the points were theirs for the taking and they had all but secured them with two heats to spare.
A 4-2 from World Under-21 Champ Janowski and Wolbert in heat 12 stretched the lead to 11 and Nermark and Iversen wrapped up the victory in the next heat with a comfortable 5-1.
With four league points in the bag it was now just down to the extent of the damage and Mads Korneliussen raced to an easy win in heat 14 to heap embarrassment on the Aces.
A final race 3-3 meant that the Stars ended up as 17-point winners, which gives them great confidence going in to the end of season run-in.
